Innapropriate for young children? Scare tactics?

My daughter told me that as a kid, the idea of living forever terrified her.

Later as a young mother, she was looking for a suitable story for her first little girl in My Book of Bible Stories.. and just threw the book away, as there wasn't one account she thought fit.

Today all her kids are wonderful loving, young folks, the little gal who never heard from JW literature is a beautiful, happy 21 year old dynamo - just finishing up university!

Never take a child to a Kingdom Hall.

I will not allow my children to be tormented by such things. Breaking the cycle

And those stories about how Demons are supposed to harass people if they disobey joke-hova. First, that blasphemes the Demons, who will not harass people. Why would Satan, who did so much trying to liberate us from joke-hova's tyranny, go on to harass those who He worked so hard trying to free us? Why would the Demons harass people when they are trying to liberate us from joke-hova's enslaving us?

Then there is the graphic depictions of such possessions. Children are taught that, unless they do everything joke-hova wants them to and refrain from doing anything joke-hova doesn't want them doing, the Demons would harass them and cause them such misery. This threat prevents children from later learning about that the witlesses are a fraud (doing such would bring on Demon attacks). Never mind that it is really angels, who are working with joke-hova to enslave each and every one of us, that actually do the attacks and do so to keep us in line and force us into slavery. Never mind that the purpose is to make people afraid to even look at the religion as a scam. Never mind that it prevents people from reading the opening chapters in their own LIE-ble and realizing that Satan is trying to be our Friend and joke-hova is trying to enslave us. Never mind that it is designed to prevent Jesus' sacrifice from being properly viewed as, not a ticket to salvation but enslavement. We were originally designed to be joke-hova's slaves living in misery--originally perfect [slaves]. Satan freed us, and the whole Jesus crap is to bring us back to perfect [slavery]. The LIE-ble left out the "slavery" part, and the "demon attacks" are intended to prevent us from realizing that on our own.

While I never had issues with "attacks" from Demons, I understand that children do not understand this while they are little. They are afraid of Demons, and this phobia carries into their adulthood and into future lives. Just like a spider or snake phobia, such phobias last their whole lives and into future lives. These phobias are as bad as, if not worse than, the spider and snake ones. A spider or snake phobia might cause one to panic or even prevent one from enjoying life; a Demon phobia prevents one from objectively analyzing their religion and seeking freedom (and the angels reinforce this by attacking, pretending to be Demons, and forcing one back to joke-hova).

Perhaps if I could use this to instill phobias in the Filthful and Disgraceful Slavebugger, they might think twice about it. Each time they write rubbish about how Demons attack children for disobeying joke-hova, they get bit by the Brazilian wandering or Sydney funnel web spider or a Fer de Lance snake. That will give them something to be afraid of, and those on the committee will have to worry about spiders and snakes for teaching children to be afraid of Demons. After all, those willfully instilling phobias in children deserve to have such intensity of phobias instilled onto them through future lifetimes, especially those at the top.

Something rang true for me in your post WT Wizard.

Lately I've had a sinking suspicion that Jehovah is something diffrent from what he claims to be. I didn't expect my beliefs in Jehovah to alter, Draw close to Jehovah was my favorite book and just hearing his name gave me the feeling of being in love, a sort of flutter in my chest.

But while I've never been attacked by a demon, even reading books that are big no-nos to JWs -at the moment of my awakening I was getting bizzare coincidences which seemed designed to influence me towards staying a JW. After apostacizing, I started getting strange physical/financial/personal problems, not the stuff I was used to dealing with. And according to JW theology 'Satan' should attack me less not more after 'leaving Jehovah' Then after a part fall out of my well-maintained car while singing to Jehovah. My gut feelings told me to just talk to the 'Father' from now on.

I know there are less fantastical explainations for my experence, jungian psychology for example... still there is a part of me that suspects something paranormal. Thanks for posting.

I remember being in Kindergarten and asking my then non-believeing dad 'why he didn't want to live forever?'. I knew for a fact that he would be "bird food" if he didn't do what needed to be done. I had heard it all my life, so to me it didn't seem morbid. It was just a matter-of- fact, everyday knowledge situation. Of course, I'd also been endrocinated to belive that what I was told was the truth and that empathy for others was a sign of weakness.

Excellent example, Blondie. Perhaps the dog squandered it's time digging for bones, rather than 'spiritual treasures'..

Staircases are also evil tools of Satan.

Not only is this religion inappropriate for children, so is the Bible.
