Welcome to the place where smart Jehovah's Witnesses all end up.

Your story is great! Such a positive outcome! How is your family treating you? Your JW friends?

    Hi, All.

Thanks so much for the welcomes...I know many of you through your posts and comments to the posts.

Lois, thanks! My wife is on here. She was the one who did all the "dirty work" and heavy lifting and found all the resources like this forum. She doesn't post much but I'm sure you would remember the few that she has posted. She is more the "guns ablazing" type. I'm damn proud of her! But, I'm keeping my forum distance for now as she has come out and ripped the GB openly. I am playing it cool with those in our local cong. We are both taking different approaches for now. As for me, it's a bit of an experiment. I want to see how long I can string the elders along (not in a mean way or to be cruel... just curious). I will go into more details later in a seperate post about what I'm attemting to do.

Hi, whathappened. The only members of my family that are jdubs are my dad and brother (my birth giver kicked the bucket a while ago. She was a dub but an aweful person). I don't really have a relationship with my dad. Never had a falling out or anything he is just not in my life. He's not big on touchy feely things like love and stuff. My brother is inactive but seems to still believe. He doesn't care. As far as friends... some level of shunning. But, I don't shy away from approaching any local dubs I see while out and about. I will run up to them and say Hi, how are you! We miss everyone at the hall. Blows their minds! I do NOT act apologetic for not being at the meetings. I just say "I don't feel like attending right now." It seems that most "inactive witnesses have a high leval of shame and tend to want to hide. That is what the active witnesses expect to see. So, when they see me all happy to see them they really don't know what to do. We have only lived here for a couple of years. Our really good friends are thousands of mile away. So, no contact from them anyway. That would be a different story. This would be going a little different if we had not moved in the last couple of years. I would still take this approach as I feel it is the best for me.

    Welcome to the forum Adam.

Please remember that Elders are not your friends and they are not your family. Save your questions for people who are important to you, and then leave them to answer your questions rather than providing your answers for them.

I wish you both all the best for the future.

    Cheers

    Chris
