in appealing the conti case why why did the wt retain non-witness lawyers? they are from the world!! who knows what kind of detestable things they engage in? are there not qualified brothers to handle this? what about the danger of our dear brothers that have to work hand in hand with these people? they could be exposed to prostitution, heavy driinking and illicit drug use! that's why we have the theocratic ministry school to help us in public forums and all the information we need can be found the watchtower so any mature brother should be capable of handling this case in a court of law. boy am i puzzeled by this double-standard.
SO WHY DID THE WATCHTOWER RETAIN WICKED WORLDLY ATTORNEYS?

Interestingly they do have their own lawyers. The Borg has been for years sending "suitable" Bethelites to Law school (paying for all the expenses) to have their "own" breed of defendants. They only use them in certain kind of cases. If the dirt really hits the fan, they prefer to use "worldly" lawyers, as they can do things that they wouldn't allow their own to do (worldly people are OK, as long as they do the shit work for them!)
Aaaah, I forgot. "Suitable" as in: totally fanatical-brainwashed Gestapo-like guys that will NEVER EVER speak, talk or leave Bet-HELL.
At least every single one that I've meet during my Bet-HELL times was like that.
Now excuse me, bringing those memories up my poor brain, I have to go and or have a few (aaah, who am I kidding, there is not enough booze to make me forget)

There are very few JWs with law degrees. I have had several JW friends go to law school and not one graduated still a JW. Likely because of the emphasis on critical thinking skills, getting both sides of an issue, generally using your brain, etc. Come to think of it, if there are moles or conscious class members at Bethel, I'd start with the legal department. They've got to know what's really going on.

If they were as 'innocent as a dove' there would be no need for the lawyers -
Matthew 10:
16 “I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves. 17 Be on your guard; you will be handed over to the local councils and be flogged in the synagogues. 18 On my account you will be brought before governors and kings as witnesses to them and to the Gentiles. 19 But when they arrest you, do not worry about what to say or how to say it. At that time you will be given what to say, 20 for it will not be you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.

The worldly attorneys might mess things up little bit on purpose.

I can imagine that the WTS has to hire non-jw lawyers since lawyers tend to specialize in certain areas and few lawyers can handle cases in many areas...I know having been in the law field for more than 20 years. Also lawyers are licensed usually only for the state they practice in. But in the case of non-jws, it's not free or pro bono. The WTS wants to "win" and will use the best lawyer available not the best jw. The WTS tends use their lawyers in conjuction with these non-jw laywers providing information and strategy.

Band on the Run
Litigators tend to specialize bc different different skills and styles are needed. If I meet a stranger litigator, I rarely hear that they litigate. Rather, I am informed that trial or appellate practice is done. Next, whether federal or state courts are used. Federal pray practice has more status but I believe the reasons are silly
Iam going to write a special post about WT lawyers
No p c.

There are at least 4 JW's here locally I know that are lawyers. 1 is lead counsil for the Conti case, another is a corporate attorney for the WT corps.
I think there are a few more out there than many realize.
