Bill, I see you already replied but I was going to say, ignore it. But your reply was fine.
TheWiz, you can't possibly be serious. This message to Bill was either a prank or it's from a seriously disturbed individual. There have been many examples of similar attempts by JW defenders to heap crap on their target, in this case Bill. There is no reasonable position that can be taken in this case. It is obvious that this person is intellectually and morally "challenged", or, as already said, they are trying to have some fun at Bills expense. In either case, your defense of his spelling or his argument is pointless.
Alan, I can tell you are just irritated. Maybe you just wanted to entertain yourself, but it's doubtful that TheWiz will respond positively to your replies. But I agree with your assessment of the situation. TheWiz is off base here. I haven't the history reading his stuff though so can only say that in this case I will have to agree with your review of his intellect. BTW, joining some in going off topic here, I'm glad to hear the good news about your daughter.
To all, a general comment about spelling on the Internet. I admit to finding very poor spelling and misuse of words irritating. Poor attention to spelling can often make it very difficult to gather the meaning of the post. Using the wrong word is more distracting than an occasional spelling error. The most common are "there" instead of "their" or "to" instead of "too". It does reflect on one's command of their language when they don't take care to structure their writing to be easily understood. Sometimes it's laziness, sometimes it's a lack of proper education, sometimes it's because the language is not their native tongue. I see nothing wrong with criticizing a post that is filled with mis-spellings and grammatical errors. It is hoped that those who post will learn the language and make an effort to communicate in that language. Sharing ideas and thoughts in writing is already hindered in that we can't view the person(s) and notice body language and other ques of communication. Why exacerbate this problem by not taking care to spell reasonably well and use the right words in the righ context?
I don't think it's fair to pick on someone who is a weak speller (am am not a very good speller myself and I am not very good at typing either) and it's appropriate to approach the issue with proper balance. But the message shared by Bill is certainly not a candidate for mercy with respect to spelling and grammatical criticism.
