My budgeting challenge began long before my family heard of the WTS. My parents taught me that budgets were only for people who were too stupid to handle their money. They taught me nothing about managing money. As a result, I became financially stupid. I've learned a few things the hard way, but it's still a struggle.
I use Quicken to plan and monitor my budget. Sticking to it is another issue entirely. Because I saved nothing when I was young, I'm occasionally blindsided by unexpected expenses.
Right now I'm doing without things like cable, cell phone, eating out and vacations. I'm throwing everything into my home, hoping to have it paid off in 10 years when I retire.
