Band on the Run
I have some exposure to federal law enforcement. Before 9/11,I thought entrapment or encouragement was always wrong, regardless of the law. I no longer know. The word of mouth in the Muslim community may trigger future attacks. I am a crusader in Al Qaeda eyes. It Is my plan to be here for a while so I want will work in the long term. We benefit when most American Muslims continue to report activity to the authorities.
My gut feeling is that every case should be addressed on its own merits. Long before September 11th, the FBI had actual notice that Middle Eastern men were doing bizarre things with planes. My NYT subscription is temporarily suspended but I understand the Russians reported these brothers

We do indeed.
There are two polar opposites here: the FBI, et al are bravely defending the country, plot by plot OR they are evil conspirators who set up false flag threats.
I think the truth is somewhere in the middle. After reading articles such as the above, I think it should be clear how a false flag event could be created while the participants claim that they were 'doing the right thing'. There is a fine line here.

The FBI and CIA will do whatever whenever to advance their own agendas inside or outside of stated laws.
Back in the Vietnam War era I was 'tailed' by the FBI for months before they arrested me and my wife's group- Students For A Democratic Society, SDS, was infiltrated by the FBI. It was the FBI undercover plants that introduced the fire bombings of Draft Centers and other violent acts.

Band on the Run
I was active with SDS and the Black Panthers in high school and college. The Panthers would talk to me a bit bc some of them knew me from school before black powerful became hot. I never trust anyone the way others do bc of the WT. I was keenly aware that there were agencies monitoring us. On the other hand, I happened to over hear gross criminality plans. I was so young that I had no idea what I should do. Maybe it was adolescent bragging or dating overtures. I had no idea so I decided to do nothing bc I was convinced that law enforcement knew everything already.
The FBI can be awesome or terrible depending on the situation. SDS and the Panthers played an important role but I can't imagine that if anyone on this forum witnessed what I dI'd that you would disagree with me. Life is much more complex. Personally, I can praise law enforcement or try to change their policy depending on the facts. They have lied so many times to not only Americans but also to Congress. We never know anything until years afterwards - if we know then.
