That is so unloving. I'm glad my 'worldly' family never did that. Also, as a Jw I never felt the need to cut off my family. I thought, how bad will it make my religion look if I did? But first and foremost, it was because I really love them.

Thats why the W.T can spout so much noncence and change its doctrines. For many witnesses its the life within the organisation and not the" doctrines" that is the important matter.

Yes, people don't have time to sit and sift it all nor do they have the necessary contacts on the outside to leave. I'm amazed at the born ins who leave- boy do they have guts.

Watch out those that swallow the party line just because they don't know better. I know of an old brother, an elder for a long time, one that sold everything in 1975 and pioneered. He ended up with a small pension and a little money in the bank. A kindly brother, an elder, offered to built on a flat and to look after him. Naturally, the brother used his money to build on the flat for him to stay in. After he fell in the shower for a third time, the brother put him in an old-age home in a neigbouring town. When he became bedridden, he for days lay in his urine an faeces. And that's how he died. This I know, because my father (who hated the Witnesses) and my mother (a Witness) took pity on him and visited him. So this is a warning to all those faithful pioneers and Bethelites. Hopefully you will die before the calamitous days are upon you, and you are conveniently forgotton by your spiritual brothers and sisters.

I was in at 12 or 13 left with my wife at 23. We both always knew it wasn't the true religion. There isn't one. Being a witnesses was like always playing on a losing team......it sounds like that team has gotten worse.

Giodano, you remind me of what I always said. I told people I am a JW. I back the winning horse, but it seems as though my winning horse has turned into a donkey.

Yes, it is, for those who are rightly disposed for everlasting life. (Acts 13:48)

A watcher, interesting scripture you are using. Yet another mistranslation by the NW Translating Committee. One is not "disposed" to everlasting life, you are "appointed" or "ordained" to everlasting life. Why do they translate this scripture so? Because it clashes with JW doctrine (they don't believe in predestination). I view it as dishonest scholarship. All dictionaries in my possession translate it as "appoint." I encourage you to compare the NWT with other translations to get an accurate and unbiassed picture:

NWT Acts 13:48 When those of the nations heard this, they began to rejoice and to glorify the word of Jehovah, and all those who were rightly disposed for everlasting life became believers. (Act 13:48 NWT)

ASV Acts 13:48 And as the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of God: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed. (Act 13:48 ASV)

ESV Acts 13:48 And when the Gentiles heard this, they began rejoicing and glorifying the word of the Lord, and as many as were appointed to eternal life believed. (Act 13:48 ESV)

NJB Acts 13:48 It made the gentiles very happy to hear this and they gave thanks to the Lord for his message; all who were destined for eternal life became believers. (Act 13:48 NJB)
