This is a Topic I think every ex JW should have oppurtunity to contribute toward .

It has been 144 years since C.T.Russell first published "Zions Watchtower And Herald Of Christs Presence" in 1879 .

Red flag 1 " Zions Watchtower " ? Obviously C.T.Russell had sympathy with the zionist movement of the day.

"Christs presence" in 1879 ? That is right and Armageddon was to occur in 1914.

When that did not occur 1916-18 was promoted. C.T Russell died in 1916 and J.F.Rutherford took the leadership.

Red flag 2 .Apart from changing / modifying some of C.T Russell`s beliefs , he went out on a limb with "Millions now Living Will Never Die " campaign in 1922 .?

In this year of 2015 nothing C.T.Russell ever predicted came true .

The same can be said for J.F.Rutherford , nothing he ever predicted has come true .

What is more telling today is the fact that the organisation known as Jehovah Witnesses distance themselves from the teachings of their modern day founding members C.T.Russell and J.F.Rutherford .

What legitimate organisation dismisses it`s foundation beginnings as the Jehovah Witnesses have done.Actually trying to re-invent their previous history , giving a false impression of their past .

Is that something we should expect from a Christian Religion ?

Red flag 3. : Their are only 8 million witnesses world wide , are they more moral , above board , more than the rest of society ?

Are they living in a spiritual paradise ? Now ?

Suicides among young people and older people who are Jehovah Witnesses are about the same as the national average , if not higher.

Crime rates among Baptized Witnesses are comparable to the general population , from murder to petty theft .google crimes committed by Jehovah Witnesses , which gives an idea but is by no means comprehensive.

Divorce rates among Witnesses is probably higher than the national average from what I have seen .

Broken familys are rampant among witnesses mainly because of the societys policy of exclusive devotion to their God Jehovah , if one member of the family deviates from that , it is an excuse to look for some other fault to sever relations with that partner,

Pedophilia within the organization is also rampant which is proved by the many law suits against the society currently in motion.

Red flag 4 : Why would the Almighty God Jehovah the sovereign of the Universe keep asking for money from his subjects to fulfill his purpose on earth. ?

What is it with God he Needs so much money ? Isn`t he above that ?

Can you think of something I have missed ? that proves the witnesses have never been Gods spirit directed organization ?

I look forward to your comments.

Can you objectively back up this claim?

Lets be fair, if a prediction doesn't come true would it be considered a lie?

If so the weather folks lie all the time. But if a prediction is looked at as truth,

then JW lead the way in BS.....

Russell's theological ideas were more speculative and alluring than having strong biblical support.

Thats why they had to be eventually changed (1874, 1914) and most of the reason for that is that his expressed doctrines were also supportive in the proliferation of the literature he published.

Interesting as it was there was another preacher a few yeas before him who also proclaimed the return of Christ and he too went about proselytizing with a book and articles to sell ! William Miller.

Following his conversion, Miller's Deist father soon challenged him to justify his newfound faith. He did so by examining the Bible closely, declaring to one friend "If he would give me time, I would harmonize all these apparent contradictions to my own satisfaction, or I will be a Deist still."[7] Miller commenced with Genesis 1:1, studying each verse and not moving on until he felt the meaning was clear. In this way he became convinced firstly, that post millennialism was unbiblical; and secondly, that the time of Christ's Second Coming was revealed in Bible prophecy.

Miller's interpretation of the 2300 day prophecy time-line and its relation to the 70 week prophecy
Beginning of the 70 Weeks: The decree of Artaxerxes in the 7th year of his reign (457 BC) as recorded in Ezra marks beginning of 70 weeks. Kings' reigns were counted from New Year to New Year following an "Accession Year". The Persian New Year began in Nisan (March–April). The civil New Year in the Kingdom of Judah began in Tishri (September–October).

Basing his calculations principally on Daniel 8:14: "Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed", Miller assumed that the cleansing of the sanctuary represented the Earth's purification by fire at Christ's Second Coming. Then, using the interpretive principle of the "day-year principle", Miller (and others) interpreted a day in prophecy to read not as a 24-hour period, but rather as a calendar year. Further, Miller became convinced that the 2,300 day period started in 457 B.C. with the decree to rebuild Jerusalem by Artaxerxes I of Persia. Simple calculation then revealed that this period would end in 1843. Miller records, "I was thus brought... to the solemn conclusion, that in about twenty-five years from that time 1818 all the affairs of our present state would be wound up."[8]

Although Miller was convinced of his calculations by 1818, he continued to study privately until 1823 to ensure the correctness of his interpretation. In September 1822, Miller formally stated his conclusions in a twenty-point document, including article 15: "I believe that the second coming of Jesus Christ is near, even at the door, even within twenty-one years,--on or before 1843."[9] Miller did not, however, begin his public lecturing until the first Sunday in August 1831 in the town of Dresden.[10]

In 1832 Miller submitted a series of sixteen articles to the Vermont Telegraph, a Baptist newspaper. The Telegraph published the first of these on May 15, and Miller writes of the public's response: "I began to be flooded with letters of inquiry respecting my views; and visitors flocked to converse with me on the subject."[2] In 1834, unable to personally comply with many of the urgent requests for information and the invitations to travel and preach that he received, Miller published a synopsis of his teachings in a 64-page tract with the lengthy title:Evidence from Scripture and History of the Second Coming of Christ, about the Year 1844: Exhibited in a Course of Lectures.

    This is one.

There involvement with the UNO as an NGO, for a period of about 10 years if I remember correctly.

This is blatant hypocrisy, christian neutrality, really.

To think I gave up my military career to become one of Jehovah's Witnesses.

I think you are being a bit too hard on the Org Smiddy, One thing that came true was the start of events leading to a "Kingdom" in 1914, just as the Pyramid Russell measured foretold, (albeit it took a couple of trys).

Only trouble is it wasn't the Kingdom of God, it was the birth of the Kingdom of Satan, starting with the League of Nations and ending with the New World Order, whose sign funnily enough just happens to be that same Pyramid.

Todays JWS are just evolved spawns from turn of the century religious charlatans who were self avowed speculators of the return of Christ, but who were also rich enough to own their own publishing company and promote their own theological proclamations.

They were not academically trained bible theologians so they were drawn into other people's ideologies, such as Christ returning and establishing his earthly Kingdom.

Engaging and attention grabbing theological expressions nevertheless and since most people at the time and place had already inherently Christian beliefs, they attracted a proportionate amount of the population.

The return of Christ and what was to happen was posthumously sold and marketed all throughout the 20th century and helped to proliferate much of the publications printed by the WTS.

The people the Watchtower Corporation had lured to the organization were encouraged to distribute the WTS literature (pioneer) as a means and way to appease god in preaching the Gospel and the new Kingdom order.

Unfortunately the Gospel professed by the WTS was really a pretentiously tainted commercialized version of the Gospel devised by the WTS to support the organizations literature and as a means to lure in more people to distribute the organization's printed literature.

In essence the WTS became descriptive false prophets as described ironically in the bible.
