  If a brother is starting to look at material on the internet and starts to have serious doubts about the JW organisation and questions the integrity of the governing body. What steps would be taken to by the congregation to readjust his thinking. And also if the congregation is not aware of this but he has confided in an individual how would that individual try to help such a brother?

  Im looking for answers from a strictly factual viewpoint please everyone I don't want to turn this into a different debate please stick to the subject matter, thanks.

  Ok taking your scenario at face value, and giving the BOE credit for not being a bunch of douche bags here is what they would do.

  "Stop reading stuff online"

  "Have a bible study with a spiritual pillar"

  "Get your ass inline or GTFO"

  That would be the extent of the "help" they would give.

  I believe partly it depends on so many variables, how far did he go? Who did he share it with? What did he say? What is his position to the elders?

  Also some halls have elders that are insecure pricks who want to be super troopers and bust people for any and everything, others you have some actual decent brothers, who will do their due diligence but aren't looking to crucify anyone.

  Steps they may offer to address his concerns, I was asked to write down questions, in fact I was approached last night by the COBE and asked if I had them yet. They may offer to have another study. I guess its like pornography, they want to know you have stopped looking and moved on lol, back to the business of advertising the publishing company and its kingdom

  Well in my case, the elders have as yet not spoken to me. I only stopped going to meetings 6 weeks ago.
  What they have done is:

  Gave a talk in the congregation on apostate literature on the Internet

  and

  Made it clear to my family including my 14 year old daughter that I was "mentally diseased".

  They would counsel you:

  Go to more meetings, go out in field serve us more, volunteer more, be a part of the Congregation. Do more, do more, do more. So doing more is the answer. I know when I have lots of disturbing thoughts, I do more. Yeah...like doing more is going to make those thoughts go away. It is not.

  My best advise to you is get the hell out of there. This is NOT Gods organization. Watch Mays TV broadcast. If that doesn't do it, nothing will.

  These Elders ARE NOT your friends and shepherds. If you mention that you are having doubts it will put you on their radar. They will do what they call "mark you." Seen it before! Trust no one!

  @freemind... Excellent point about elder types, I think he might be in trouble if he goes to them. He has confided in me im not a baptised brother but I used to study about 10 years back. he is fine talking to me about it.

  To be fair I think that if you are not a generally controversial person and perhaps have had been a pretty good dub for a while then at least an element of the BoE would try and be loving.

  However, the more you point the finger at the F&DS, the more you express dissatisfaction, the more vocal you become, the less you accept "readjustment", the more it becomes obvious it's not a phase of "tiredness/depression" and so on, then the more chance you have of getting some increasingly heavy pressure to lay your cards on the table.
