For something more recent, "Oblivion" has a plot twist that an awakened JW could appreciate.
'The Matrix' and 'The Village'

These two clips from the movie 'The Matrix' represent for me two parts of my life out of the WT organization. The first took place over twelve years ago when I realised that my life (from childhood up) had been based on an illusion; it was for me quite a difficult thing to deal with. The second clip represents me now in my deprogrammed state, where the WT organization has absolutely no power over me. I feel sure that many here feel the same way.

I am not big into movies (films over here) but I can vouch for "The Village" as being ,to me, an obvious paralell with represive religions like the WTS.. I casually said to my wife afterwards that perhaps it was meant to be allegorical, she gave me the kind of look that meant that she knew what I was saying - but not to take it any further !

Both of those movies were great analogies to what the WTS is like.
I explained some of my 'quirks' to a friend by likening life to "The Village", that you are brought up in this fake environment and world and some of your responses are then very ingrained even though you may not still have the beliefs behind them.

Antwone Fisher
Antwone Fisher, a young navy man, is forced to see a psychiatrist after a violent outburst against a fellow crewman. During the course of treatment a painful past is revealed and a new hope begins.
Based on Finding Fish: A Memoir
Fisher was born in prison to an incarcerated mother and a father who had been shot by a girlfriend. After being placed in foster care, Fisher was treated brutally and blamed for his own misfortunes. He was also sexually abused by a woman who often babysat him from around age 3 to 8. He then was sent to George Junior Republic. Eventually, he found his way into a stable job in the Navy.Later, Fisher became a security guard at Sony Pictures Studios, where his story inspired producer Todd Black to make a film, Antwone Fisher, based on his story.

The creepy-crawly recruitment techniques. How fast do people conform!

What I found disturbing about the Eloi was that one minute they were happily engaged in normal human life then as soon as the siren went they became totally different people. Contrast this with the quite normal JW who suddenly takes on a new personality come the time for Kingdom Hall attendence or door-to-door preaching as she/he is subject to an irrestible force beckoning her/him.

Although not a film, the subject of Utopian movements during the very early american history is also an interesting lesson in religious control and one can see why groups like SDA and WT managed to get born on the tail wind of them.

I am reading the Hunger Games trilogy (book 2 atm), and find parallels in that story.
Has anyone seen the movie? I'm thinking it would fit into this category as well.

Talesin... I was just about to add 'The Hunger Games' trilogy to the list (movie as well). Lots of parallels especially concerning 'The Capital'.
