American survivalists and cults believe in "the new world order". A world government will take over and we will all have barcodes on our arms etc... How did this nonsense get into Watchtower lore with the whole U.N thing. The org. That stands for peace and solidarity would never ban all religion...what do ya think the Muslims would do? More then just "gnashing their teeth" as the stupid Watchtower says.

A lot of people (JWs and others) sure shit their pants about the UN.

Never has a more inept group of do-little-to-nothings been able to strike so much fear into men's hearts.

While I basically agree with you, I'm not so sure that in decades to come the UN could not evolve into some kind of global world government that could bring in anti-religious policies. In order for that to happen, the collapse of the US would have to basically occur politically and atheistic socieities like China and Russia would have to become dominant and basically commandeer the UN for their own globalist agenda. But if such a thing ever did happen, there is no way it will happen anytime soon.

Some kind of radical pretext may also have to occur first, particularly to get western liberal civilization to move that way, eg, a limited nuclear war between the 'west' and Islamic fundamentalism. That could establish a global political will to crack down on religious fanaticism in the form of organised religion.

But the fact that for many decades we had superpowers, the USSR and more latterly China, as officially atheistic (China still is) countries should give us pause before dismissing the idea out of hand that political elements in the world may one day turn on religion on a more or less global scale.

This has become part of bible-belt lore, based on an eccentric interpretation of Revelation.

I watched the pilot episode of "Escaping Evil- My Life Inside the Cult" and was fascinated to see the Children of God and Family International had an eerily similar teaching to that of JWs when it comes to this.

I was just thinking this after reading the july wt and I completely agree with the op.It's one thing to "adjust" invisible comings and goings of some

dead jew,but another to predict events in real life. Also, this can not be easily explained away as having happened "symbolically", when nothing really happens.

It's hard to imagine the gb believing this themselves, but who knows how delusional they are.

Russia is by no means an "atheistic society".In my experience,it's much more religious than many European countries.Putin and the Orthodox

church hierarchy are good buddies. The head of the church,Kirill, even called Putin's presidency "a miracle of God"

    This from wikipedia:

"On 8 February 2012 at a meeting of religious leaders in Moscow, Kirill described the Putin era as "a miracle of God" and criticised his opponents. He said that those who were demonstrating for democratic reform and the rule of law were emitting "ear piercing shrieks"

Soviet Union was of course another story.

I don't know about them 'turning on religion' in the WT.

But i do think we are going the way of people getting sick of religion and governments stripping them of their power.

Which i think would be welcome.

Full seperation of church and state.

Especially now what with all that is going on with the fundamentalist stuff.

the whore of babylon to me is the catholic church and the UN is going after them for all sorts of crime, thus considered to be the reason the first time in it's history a pope steps down . basically there is no reason what so ever a church should be considered a nation state participating in discussion fo security . should the WTBTS be right on their prediction it would be an eye opener , but to me all it takes would be the end of the RCC.

"But i do think we are going the way of people getting sick of religion and governments stripping them of their power."

I too think this is a welcome direction, but I see it more as a natural process - cultural evolution - than some action taken by the government. At least where I live, which is a predominantly protestant European country. When people just don't care much about religion and church, how could it have power over them.

Might be different in Saudi-Arabia though.. how can you make the difference between political and religious power there.

However,I think this doctrine serves the gb quite well.So much of the violence in the world is at least inspired by religion, that dubs will always have a steady flow of signs and omens that will lead to the UN's attack on religion. There's always gonna be gods that need some earthly "defending" to be done by suicide bombers and other terrorists.Allah is definitely in constant need of such defending..
