    How low can they go?

If I remember correctly, this is the lowest number of GB members the WT has had since the GB arrangement started. They don’t seem to be in any hurry to appoint any new GB members. They might not want any new blood that might rock the status quo. Why rock the boat with new members when you can use any of the rank and file to do your bidding. If a few more GB’s die, how many Governing Body members can the WT get away with and still function as an organization? Two, three?

There are those waiting in the wing, being train to follow the GB(Good old Boys)

    footsteps.

Yep! The Governing Body has "helpers" who are basically GB members in training.

When it comes to positions of power, there will always be people waiting to fill their shoes.

It's strange that an OP focusing on the "low" number of GB members fails to even specify what that number is. I'm guesing it is currently seven? Otherwise, some good questions are raised. Apparently no policy or teaching is changed or modified by the GM unless there are at least two-thirds voting in favor of it. So I guess that the smaller the number on the GB, the more closely they will work together and reduce the likelihood of having a dissenting opinion.

Possibly they don't have any qualified potential candidates, and by qualified I mean being willing to go along with the hypocrisy, lies and shaking down the rank and file for any every dollar they can get.

Oh, they can go pretty low.

Wouldn't three be far too obvious what the one third looser position might be? I'm guessing the looser might feel too disgusted with the arrangement and go Ray Franz on them. So probably five would be the lowest, since then the two loosers could commiserate and cry on each other's shoulder, especially if they are of the Greenlees and Ewart Chitty who went gently into that murky night of oblivion without fanfare.

Or, perchance, the dissenting vote may be even more extreme than the GB status quo?

Remember that the Governing Body has to be made up of "anointed brothers." So that limits their choices. However, I am sure that dozens of GB helpers have suddenly been "filled with spirit" and now know that they have been anointed. After all, the 1935 barrier was disposed of some years ago and all the 1914ers died off around the year 2000. Whoever is delivering the "new light" is probably passing through the halls of Patterson and touching the foreheads of those GB helpers who look good in a suit, have a fairly good voice, have mastered the Watchtower "holy speaking style," and can stick to the script 100%.

So all you "anointed" sisters out there who are still partaking and are equals in status to the anointed GB members - forget it. Sit down and shut up and do what you are told. Maybe you'll get a good job in heaven after you die, but certainly no respect while you still exist on earth.

Be a helluva thing if, in ten years, Tight-Pants Tony was the only one left.
