I got a call just today from someone in an Indian call centre advising about a problem with my computer. That scam is obviously still going.

I know of elderly people who have gotten calls from supposed utlity companies claiming behind on their bill and will turn off power, gas, phone and water. They have given debt card numbers, ssn, address, dob and so on and not have a clue.
Another scam on the elderly, is getting a call from a supposed grandchild in another country on vacation and arrested. They tell their grandparents they need money to get bailed out or going to a foriegn prison. They are not just good at fooling them, they are excellent. I have called the grandchild and they are only blocks away and have no clue their grandparent is thinking this is where they are. They send thousands and no one ever knows, as they are asked to say nothing.
So many and with money to gain (supposedly) people fall for it all the time. I know someone said "COMMON SENSE" and my response is to say ... SENSE IS not that COMMON!!!
Sad but true.

"Please help me, I am a Nigerian prince who has a US lottery ticket that I can't cash so can I please use it to pay for you to walk my dog or baby-sit my dinars?"
Did I get all of them? Will I get 6x the victims by combining 6 scams in one?
It is hard to believe that people fall for these but everything is new to someone, sometime and many aren't fortunate to be educated (I don't mean academically).

There was a scam brought to light on the local news a few months ago that I actually thought was pretty funny. An email was sent out to anyone and everyone stating ... "we have knowlege that you have been viewing child porn...Send $500 if you do not want us to notify authorities and employers."
Whoever was running the scam was making a killing

If you are offered a "free" cruise, they don't need your credit card number!
