The ONLY proof that the Watchtower Society can produce to prove that they were chosen to be God's Channel in 1919......is that "THEY" say so.

"Jehovah’s Witnesses, in their eagerness for Jesus’ second coming, have suggested dates that turned out to be incorrect. Because of this, some have called them false prophets. Never in these instances, however, did they presume to originate predictions ‘in the name of Jehovah.’ Never did they say, ‘These are the words of Jehovah.’ The Watchtower, the official journal of Jehovah’s Witnesses, has said: “We have not the gift of prophecy.” (January 1883, page 425) “Nor would we have our writings reverenced or regarded as infallible.” (December 15, 1896, page 306) The Watchtower has also said that the fact that some have Jehovah’s spirit “does not mean those now serving as Jehovah’s witnesses are inspired. It does not mean that the writings in this magazine The Watchtower are inspired and infallible and without mistakes.” (May 15, 1947, page 157) “The Watchtower does not claim to be inspired in its utterances, nor is it dogmatic.” (August 15, 1950, page 263) “The brothers preparing these publications are not infallible. Their writings are not inspired as are those of Paul and the other Bible writers. (2 Tim. 3:16) And so, at times, it has been necessary, as understanding became clearer, to correct views. (Prov. 4:18)”—February 15, 1981, page 19."

"We see no reason for changing the figures - nor could we change them if we would. They are, we believe, God's dates, not ours. But bear in mind that the end of 1914 is not the date for the beginning, but for the end of the time of trouble." Zion's Watch Tower 1894 Jul 15 p.226

    Romans Chapter 8

12So, then, brothers, we are under obligation, not to the flesh to live in accord with the flesh;13for if ?YOU? live in accord with the flesh ?YOU? are sure to die; but if ?YOU? put the practices of the body to death by the spirit, ?YOU? will live.14For all who are led by God's spirit, these are God's sons.15For ?YOU? did not receive a spirit of slavery causing fear again, but ?YOU? received a spirit of adoption as sons, by which spirit we cry out: ?"Abba,? Father!"16The spirit itself bears witness with our spirit that we are God's children.17If, then, we are children, we are also heirs: heirs indeed of God, but joint heirs with Christ, provided we suffer together that we may also be glorified together.out

Without a doubt a person will know when they are chosen. The spirit compells you to do things in accordance with GOD's will.

The G.B. claim to be chosen in order to claim a degree of authority over the congregation. They are not the faithful and discreet slave otherwise they would teach that the slave is only one person. There is no basis for their teaching that the slave is comprised of 144,000.

Wishful Thinking with huge doses of leaps in logic mixed in gave the Governing Body knowledge that they were chosen and quite possibly a touch of Narcissistic Personality Disorder also helped them gain this secret knowledge.

“How did the 1919 GB know they were chosen?”

In year 1919 Watchtower’s god went by the name of Rutherford.

If Rutherford let a Bethelite remain inside the Watchtower hierarchy then he was “chosen” by god.

It’s all there in black and white, and a little blood-colored red too.

It was during Rutherford’s god-ship of Watchtower that Fred Franz was chosen as one of Watchtower’s top henchmen. It was Franz who started up Watchtower’s infamous SS, known as the Service Department.

Following up from Blues Brother's quotes, when 100% of WT's 1914 predictions failed:

"We did not say positively that this would be the year."
    --Watchtower 11/1/1914, p.5565

Suddenly they go from being "God's dates" to we weren't "positive". Not learning their lesson, WT set yet another false date:

1915: "In view of this strong Bible evidence concerning the Times of the Gentiles, we consider it an established truth that the final end of the kingdoms of this world, and the full establishment of the kingdom of God, will be accomplished near the end of A.D. 1915. (The Time Is At Hand, 1915 edition, p. 99)

So it was in this harvest also up to A.D. 1878 the time prophecies and the fact of the Lord's presence, substantially as here presented, though less clearly, was our message. Since then the work has widened, and the view of other truths has become brighter and clearer; but the same fact and scriptures, teaching the same time and presence, stand unchallenged and incontrovertible. (The Time Is At Hand; 1889; 1915 ed.; p. 236)

Just as "incontrovertible" as 1914. You know, the date that just failed....

Still showing no humility, the WT makes more false prophecies:

1917 Also, in the year 1918, when God destroys the churches wholesale and the church members by millions, it shall be that any that escape shall come to the works of Pastor Russell to learn the meaning of the downfall of Christianity. (The Finished Mystery, 1917 edition, p. 485)

1917 As the fleshly-minded apostates from Christianity, siding with the radicals and revolutionaries, will rejoice at the inheritance of desolation that will be Christendom's after

1918, so will God do to the successful revolutionary movement; it shall be utterly desolated, "even all of it." Not one vestige of it shall survive the ravages of world-wide all embracing anarchy, in the fall of 1920. (Rev. II: 7-13) (The Finished Mystery, 1917, p. 542, [The 1926 ed. reads: "in the end of the time of trouble."])

    Stupid is as stupid does....
