  LOL! You ALL are waaay off...lemme tell ya what really happened:

  Dinosaurs are still around. They are, eh, just invisible! Umm, yah, that's it. And, and, well see, only Steven Spielberg can see them. So he asked George Lucas to um, use his demonic powers at Industrial Light and Magic to wave his magic wand (get your mind out of the gutter, not "that" wand) and they appear only on movie screens, lunch pales, and assorted action figures at your local TARGET. See, the dinosaurs were smart, they wanted to wait in their invisible state untill someone could launch a highly profitable marketing franchise on them. And that's the "truth". It's all bible based too.

  Seriously, I remember in the mid to late 70's the explanation given by John/Jane Doe Witness was; Dinosaurs were destroyed in the flood of Noah. Oh, by the way, ignore all the rest of that other "scientific" evidence...it's evil...EVIL I say!

  or another answer:

  Shouldn't you be more concerned about other stuff, and wait till the new system to ask those questions. (My favorite, side-step-the-issue-Jw-style-Dosi-Doe. Fun to dance to with square dance music.)

  I've studied the astroid, disease, and natural selection theories. And they are just that theories. I just know one fact, it wasn't no global flood that wiped them out.

  D8TA- that is the first I have heard of a witness stating the dinos were around for the flood of noah ,that is about as ridiculous as the rest of the comments I received so far .The wait till the new system remark would make more sense cause if there is a god he would be the only one who could explain it.

  I wish the poem was mine. I've had it in one of my journals since I was in high school like a million years ago - I have no idea where I got it from or who wrote it, but it certainly explains a lot, don't you think?

  OH WAIT WAIT WAIT!

  This totally triggered a memory from my childhood.

  There is a book, published by the WTBTS and for the life of me I can't remember what that book is. I need help!

  All I remember is a picture of a Tyrannasarus Rex or Alisarus in the midst of raging flood water(a river of flood water I think). Help. Help. HELP!

  I checked my mom's old stuff (and curiously, she had a complete library of "old" books and now some are "missing") and couldn't find this book.

  From my memory, it had to be at least a book printed by the WTBTS from 1965 - 1975, due to the artistic impression I have in my noggin.

  I seem to remember, wasn’t it in the green bibles? There were maps of the bible lands on the inside back covers and dinosaurs could be seen roaming the pre-flood lands along with man.

  Earlier Society literature alludes to the belief that the dinosaurs were wiped out in the flood, less than 5000 years ago!

  When did God create dinosaurs, and when did they become extinct?—U.S.A.
  The Bible does not provide specific answers to this question. According to the Genesis account, animals were created during the fifth and sixth creative periods or ‘days.’ If the Hebrew expression translated “great sea monsters” [Hebrew, tan·ni·nim'] includes dinosaurs, which often inhabited swampy, watery areas, this would mean that dinosaurs were created on the fifth “day.” (Gen. 1:21) We do not know whether they continued to exist until man was created (toward the close of the sixth “day”). At the very latest it seems likely that they must have disappeared off the earth at the time of the flood of Noah’s day. Dinosaurs were reptiles, and some kinds of dinosaurs bear strong resemblance structurally and otherwise to lizards (sauros is, in fact, the Greek word for “lizard”; saura in Leviticus 11:29, LXX). Not all types of dinosaurs were of such gigantic size. Hence, even if they had survived till the Flood, this would not have required taking pairs of the mammoth varieties into the ark. Other smaller members of the particular family or “kind” to which these belonged would have sufficed to fulfill the divine command.—Gen. 6:19, 20; 7:14.

  But they became more cautious, not committing themselves ‘cus they just sounded stupid:

  “PALAEONTOLOGY is the study of fossils, and fossils are the remains of life from past ages.” But as one paleontologist said, it is “a highly speculative and opinionated science.” This is evident regarding dinosaurs. Listing some speculations as to what happened to them, Princeton scientist G. L. Jepson stated:
  “Authors with varying competence have suggested that dinosaurs disappeared because the climate deteriorated . . . or that the diet did. . . . Other writers have put the blame on disease, parasites, . . . changes in the pressure or composition of the atmosphere, poison gases, volcanic dust, excessive oxygen from plants, meteorites, comets, gene pool drainage by little mammalian egg-eaters, . . . cosmic radiation, shift of Earth’s rotational poles, floods, continental drift, . . . drainage of swamp and lake environments, sunspots.”—The Riddle of the Dinosaur.
  It is apparent from such speculations that scientists are not able, with any certainty, to answer the question: What happened to the dinosaurs?

  When the dinosaurs had fulfilled their purpose, God ended their life. But the Bible is silent on how he did that or when. We can be sure that dinosaurs were created by Jehovah for a purpose, even if we do not fully understand that purpose at this time. They were no mistake, no product of evolution. That they suddenly appear in the fossil record unconnected to any fossil ancestors, and also disappear without leaving connecting fossil links, is evidence against the view that such animals gradually evolved over millions of years of time. Thus, the fossil record does not support the evolution theory. Instead, it harmonizes with the Bible’s view of creative acts of God.

  Does anyone remember the FAR SIDE cartoon, where a bunch of dinosaurs were standing around puffing on cigarettes? The caption read, "The real reason dinosaurs became extinct".

  dmouse -you are correct ,I have the green bible and looky here there is a dinosaur on the inside of the cover in africa all the human pics are standing way off from him.(probly don't want to be lunch)lol .That was some good wt research you did ,don't think I ever asked what the wt theory was on dinsaurs ,but heard one suggest they were mulchers and fertilizer.It is ovious that they produced what we use today as fossil fuel.
  simon- alive and well on venus ,I never would have dreamt up such lunie idea . That would mean they had a space program and now we have to consider the posibility that they had a nuclear holocaust and excaped to venus, where they are now contemplating returning to earth ,due to all the alien abductions and ufo sitings .I sure hope they don't think we are tastey enough .
