Even in difficult circumstances life goes on. These piks show some of the activities of children in NK. They are usually not identified, but we can presume that they would mostly be of the children of the elites and their associates in Pyongyang.

It is thought by western observers that only people loyal to the state are allowed to live in that city.

Calligraphy is an important art form in the East Asian area, and NK is not an exception. This video from NK State TV shows of the talents of young people at a recent exhibition. As you watch, note the personalities of the kids. Are they different from other kids in similar circumstances? I would suggest that all the people you see are loyal followers of the Korean Workers Party and the Kim dynasty.

Mr and Mrs Kim Jong-eun visit a kindergarten.

NB: This person posts a lot of NK videos.

He gives this explanation of the visit.

    Quote:

    Published on 16 Jul 2012

sweetest children of the DPRK (North Korea)

Pyongyang, July 15 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Un, first secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, first chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army, visited Kyongsang Kindergarten.

Smart children presented bunches of fragrant flowers to him, saying "Thank you dear respected General Kim Jong Un very much."

He gently patted them on their cheeks, asking how old they were. He entered the playground, kindly taking them in his arms.

"It is nice to see the playground covered with rubber mat", he said, watching with a broad smile children merrily using amusement facilities: some were competing with each other with their knees bent and others were riding on swing boats, plane-shaped slides, rocket-shaped plane on the lawn.

He dropped in at the room dedicated to the history of the kindergarten. He praised the kindergarten for producing many music wonders, mentioning every artiste who learned music at the kindergarten.

    Unquote.

Here's another video, illustrating the work of the UN World Food Program.

Btw, I try to be a little contrarian in the videos I post. That is, I seek to challenge contemporary western perceptions of life in NK, without going past a point of balance and suggestign that life is perfect in NK. It is not! But it also not true, that there are 20,000,000 starving people in NK, or that, everyone is miserable, nor that everyone is a prisoner. The elite are well aware that if the regime collapses, they will lose their privileged status, and who wants to lose their status?

Also, it seems in South Korea there is now a deepseated fear that the cost of reunification will be so high, that it will set back South Korea's own prosperity, so many South Koreans now do not want reunification.

And, I take this opportunity to repeat that much of what we can see, shows the elites and children of the elites at work and play.

My policy is a challenge for me, as Youtube is a place of propaganda wars, its difficult to discern at times whether there is some glimpse of reality or if it is all propaganda.

Btw, you may note that many of these videos are posted by '

s?feature=watch'. I'm not computer literate to work out where stimmekoreas comes form, but you can win a cigar with only one guess !!

A concert for kids in NK.

No! I did not watch it all the way through! Not sure you'll want to either. Some good singers in the classical style, and an interesting young male singer at 00:31.00

Do things get better if kids run away from NK?

The Sk govt. is attempting to assist, but the problems are highlighted in this vid.
