I have watched the discussion on this forum for some time, have never been able to commit to a response.
My question is this , while recognizing the catharsis of discussion and debate ,when do we say enough is enough and get on with it?(life)
How do we,why are we so drawn to the process of yelling at a community who largely will not hear.

Can't you get on with life....WHILE discussing these issues?

Of course , it just seems so many, myself included , have to have one last rubber -neck look at the accident scene

    Hi Almostwhole,

I think people come here as a matter of therapy. Blow some steam and such. I know it's therapy for me. When most everybody you know are witnesses then it's like having a disscussion group of 1, and that realy sucks/bites/blows/hurls chunks and such.

Everybodies situation is different I guess. Mabey you don't have to deal with too many people who are still "in", mabey you do. I hope it's the former.

Anyway, being a witness is a part of all our lives in some way. I guess boards like this are ways some choose to deal with that part of what makes us who we are.

I dunno... I would think that when people quit drinking they loose thier drinking buddies. After a while, thier drinking buddies quit drinking and when they run into each other, they bond even closer due to having so much in common PLUS the fact that they solved a common problem. That is where I see this small community and see its power.

Now, this power is a relative term. Each person on here is here for a different reason. Some need this for a therapy of sorts, while others like myself are curious after being away from any talk of JW's for half a lifetime. I am still holding judgement on why some others are here.

Keep up the good work, all of you. Life is too short.

When I left more than 25 years ago, this board did not exist. I worked things out for myself.

Maybe in some cosmicly perverse way I'm called to the "atheist ministry." (That's a joke.)

Almostwhole, your description of the DuBorg as "a community who largely will not hear" is accurate, but there will be a small percentage who will want to leave and who would like to know that they are not crazy. If I can make the road out of Dubville a bit smoother for those people, I'm happy to do so. If you don't want to, guess what? You don't have to. Life will offer you other opportunities to do good deeds.

    It's a therapeutic thing.

For me...it's about having left EVERYTHING and EVERYONE I knew for the past 29 years (um, that would be my entire life experience) and starting a new life in a world that is virtually foreign to me. Surviving this is no ez feat, not even remotely, psychologically speaking...so it really helps to chat with others who have been thru it...who understand. In my experience, non-xjubs (say that 5times fast) can't even begin to comprehend my situation and I'd rather not bore them with details that r 2 difficult to 'splain.

Hence, Enter this forum. Even though each posters situation is unique, they have each in their own way "been there" and many probably know what I'm going thru.

    I take comfort in that.
