*F#cking serious eyeroll* give me a bloody break.
Can they sit on the floor??
Look, we don't greet them and don't eat with them and don't associate with them, but otherwise we treat them as normal persons.
One problem that arose locally with a Congregation that insisted the DF'd ones sat at the back, was that there were so many of them, they used to enjoy eachothers company, laughing and joking, passing notes etc.
Now, we can't have that can we, thought the Elders, the DF'd ones are not supposed to have a pleasant time in any way, they should just sit quiet and listen, and then bugger off.
The Elders did not come up with any solution though, it would have been easy to do as we did and bid the DF'd ones to sit where they wanted, but that was too Liberal for this particular BOE, they will now adjust no doubt, as it has come from above.
It's disgusting that they only show a bit of humanity when told to do so by the WT.
If I was DF'd I would sit front and center and wear a ball cap that said on the back: jwfacts.com
"It's disgusting that they only show a bit of humanity when told to do so by the WT." Phizzy ~ well said.
There is no official policy but they have to keep clarifying this matter.
The parents with small children probably got tired of being forced to sit next to mentally diseased trash.
I have never found anything in the publications that df'd have to sit in the back of the KH or a sideroom, just be quiet and respectful and not try to engage anyone in conversation.
If someone knows of anything in the publications, can you share it? This is one of those unwritten rules.
No they didn't "have to" sit in the back prior to this article.
I have little doubt some "righteous overmuch" local BOEs tried to enforce their personal views on the matter....which likely led to numerous complaints to COs and letters to the branch, prompting this article to spell it out clearly.
In our congregation, DF'ed people have always sat where they wanted, front, middle, back, with family, etc.
I also am not aware of anything official. Maybe it varied by congregation. My kids and I always sat in the front row. They paid better attention and there were no distractions. When I was DFd, we would have continued that practice, but we had just moved back into my old hall where my mom attended. So sometimes the girls sat with her at the front, sometimes we all did. No one ever restricted me from where I wanted to sit.
Later on I started to sit at the back so I could quickly duck out when I got upset at some hypocrisy coming off the platform (i.e. welcoming the prodigal son). But it was my choice.
