What about the Watchtower Society showing support for Jimmy Swaggart Ministries to maintain tax exempt status on sold publications? Then when JWM lost the case they made it appear to the rank and file that it was a provision from Jehovah now that they stopped selling publications. Jehovah now only accept donations at the door.

    Slimboy, I have a Q re:

" when some encyclopedias are compiled they may ask JWs at the branch to provide information for their own entries. Hardly a great practice for a supposed impartial reference work, but apparently it does happen."

Do we have another source to confirm that the encyclopedia simply parroted what the WT told them? How do we establish this as fact, like the fakery on the earthquakes? Or can we?

    Hi SlimBoyFat,

Urban Jehovah's Witness legends are a staple for most witnesses. My mother actually started one of the famous ones that did the rounds in North London during the eighties. She's not serving in the London Bethel.

    Here's the story http://www.jehovahswitnessblog.com/funnies/the-evil-ted/

    Cheers

    Correction:

The earliest WTS quote on the CD-ROM library is 1985.

It was 1972. I must have been half-asleep.

My favorite tactic is when the writers quote from alleged authoritative sources in support of some position they are promoting (such as the identity of Michael the Archangle, or some other trivial doctrinal quibble). They will often quote from a “noted scholar”, who upon investigation, is discovered to be a part time Biblical studies teacher at a community college in Fairbanks, Alaska.

It’s similar to promoters printing a raving review for a Jean-Claude Van Damme movie from a “movie critic” – who turns out to write for a high school newspaper.

Thanks for the research Ann. I think this issue might have come up before on the forum, although I can't find the thread. I don't think I came up with the idea myself.

I might be off base as to secular sources because there so many of them. Thank God they are not in my head! But I recall one of Rutherfords books Jehovah where he qoutes Jesus. "World war 1 and reports of wars."

    So sad!

The Watchtower Organization is a highly effective propaganda machine as far as I'm concerned. I used to get so aggravated during the meetings that i often felt the urge to stick my fingers in my ears and go la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la.... In fact, i got soooo ticked off during one Watchtower study, i got up and left right in the middle of paragraph 12. When I had finally had it up to my hairline, I left for good.

The Org. is not above using questionable and outdated statistics--sometimes several years old, and other information that they realize is no longer accurate (considered unethical). And as mentioned in an earlier post, they have been caught quoting out of context as well (considered highly unethical). But what's far worse is the liberties they take with the bible. Over and over again they twist verses to shade their true meaning; they include certain scriptures and omit others in their articles and public talks in order to tweak them to their liking, not God's; and they flat out lie to gain and maintain support for their erroneous dogmas, policies and procedures.

What's the ultimate objective behind all this deception? In a nutshell, it's to promote the ideologies of eight men (i,e, Gov. Body) and recruit and hold hostage as many idolators as possible--sorry suckers who are dupped into worshipping the GB, not Jah.

"The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how Satan works. He will use all sort of displays of power through signs and wonders that serve the lie...God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will all beleive the lie..." 2 Thessalonians 2:9, 11
