1894: "A few more years will wind up the present order of things, and then the chastened world will stand face to face with the actual conditions of the established Kingdom of God. And yet the course of the Church is to be finished within the space of time that intervenes." (Watchtower p. 56, 1894)
1889: "Be not surprised, then, when in subsequent chapters we present proofs that the setting up of the Kingdom of God is already begun, that it is pointed out in prophecy as due to begin the exercise of power in A.D. 1878, and that the 'battle of the great day of God Almighty (Rev. 16:14) which will end in A.D. 1914 with the complete overthrow of earth's present rulership, is already commenced. The craziest thing is that when I bring up the faithful and discreet slave, my parents will say that in no way shape form or fashion do we worship the faithful and discreet slave we worship Jehovah, we dont worship the watchtower. My parents and brother are brainwashed.

They are brainwashed because they love the idea of a sudden fix to all their problems. They can't let go of that. Imagine the "Oh $hit" they would utter if they only knew how cooked their goose is as far as retirement planning, lack of education, etc. is. All those loans and credit cards they will have to pay off. Yikes.

You know, before my mother died, she told me, "I am worried about Africa." She had this way of making predictions, kind of unaware, that would come true.
I knew this poem before any red hat lady groups came out. This is what I am going to be doing in 2052.
When I Am Old.
When I am an old woman I shall wear purple
With a red hat that doesn't go, and doesn't suit me,
And I shall spend my pension
on brandy and summer gloves
And satin sandals,
and say we've no money for butter.
I shall sit down on the pavement when I am tired,
And gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells,
And run my stick along the public railings,
And make up for the sobriety of my youth.
I shall go out in my slippers in the rain
And pick the flowers in other people's gardens,
And learn to spit.
You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat,
And eat three pounds of sausages at a go,
Or only bread and pickle for a week,
And hoard pens and pencils and beer mats
and things in boxes.
But now we must have clothes that keep us dry,
And pay our rent and not swear in the street,
And set a good example for the children.
We will have friends to dinner and read the papers.
But maybe I ought to practise a little now?
So people who know me
are not too shocked and surprised,
When suddenly I am old
and start to wear purple!

I`m sure I`ll be in paradise in 2052 whether I`ll be aware of it or not is another question.
