A source connected to the family tells TMZ ... Paris "threw a fit" last night after she was told she couldn't go to a Marilyn Manson concert. We're told she ran into her room screaming and slammed the door. How messed up do you have to be to slit your wrists over not being able to go to a concert? Poor kid.

Marilyn Manson - wasn't he/she/it yesterday's news before Paris was even born?

I can't imagine what it's like for these kids, NOT growing up JW with Michael, then his death, then moving in with your GMa who is kinda sorta in/out. You can do some things, but you can't do others.

Must be confusing. I feel for all of them.

The BOE in Encino needs to get in on this, since Paris is an unbaptised publisher. Get back to the KH and beg for forgiveness or be marked. Having your famous father die and then become absorbed into the JW life almost immediately is a certain recipe for disaster. It had to be bad if she went back to a 'mother' that swiftly abandoned her for a cash payout.

At least whilst she's being well cared for in a well-appointed hospital, she does not need to worry where her next meal is coming from - although in upcoming years, she might have the headache and stress of the most optimal investment opportunities for her millions. There will be no end of people concerned about her and hovering in the room - unlike the unknown young people who daily take their lives with scant mention anywhere of their brief and pained existence.

Psychologists Have Growing Concern For Paris Jackson

The daughter of pop legend Michael Jackson is reportedly on the mend from a suicide attempt on Wednesday, but mental health professionals say she still has a lot of challenges ahead.

By Laurie Sue Brockway, Everyday Health Staff WriterConcern for Paris JacksonMONDAY, June 10, 2013 - The judge overseeing guardianship of Paris Jackson and her siblings has reportedly ordered an investigation into her well-being. Mental health professionals say that her challenges go way beyond "teenage angst" and that her burdens are heavy for someone her age. In the controversy and gossip that has raged since Paris' attempted suicide was reported, many people may have lost track of the fact that she is a very young girl who is apparently in a lot of emotional pain. The court-ordered investigation will assess her health, education, and welfare and a private report will be given to the judge. As the daughter of one of the most famous pop stars of all time, Paris lived most of her life ensconced in the protection of her father's fantasy creation at Neverland Ranch. She was hidden from public view as a child, covered with a veil so that the world would not know who she is.

Then, on June 25, 2009, her adored father died, a traumatic ending she witnessed with her own eyes. At 11 years old, she was taken from the home she knew, sent to live with her religious grandmother, and thrust into the fold of her dysfunctional show business family. And whatever others may think of Michael Jackson, he was loved and cherished by his only daughter. There is not just one thing that can move someone to think of - or act upon - a plan to take her own life. An attempted suicide could be due to many factors."Suicidal behavior is a complex interaction of many factors including biology and brain chemistry, current life situations, and family history," said Kris Bryant, MA, LPC, who works with suicidal kids through NorthCare, a community mental health agency in Oklahoma City. "Often times suicidal behavior is intended to communicate something. And it's also a way to cope. So I think given everything that she's been through already and the disruption in her family life, it makes sense that she would have some of those thoughts and feelings. Hopefully, she'll be able to get the help she needs going forward."The good news, according to some reports, is that Paris thwarted the attempt herself by reaching out and calling a suicide hotline that sent an ambulance to her home.

Finding Her Voice - And Setting Off Red Flags - In Social Media

After living her life in a protective bubble, Paris has begun to appear in public more in the past couple of years and has become active in social media. She has been sharing comments to her million followers on Twitter that made some people wonder what was going on in her life. "I wonder why tears are salty," she posted on June 5.While she was, in some ways, suffering in silence and not revealing the full magnitude of her pain, psychologists and mental health professionals we spoke to noticed some red flags in her behavior, things she shared and her manner of dress - especially what she was revealing through what she wore."I saw some pictures of her online, and she looked like she had scratch marks or cutting marks on her arms," said Miguelina German, PhD, research director of the Adolescent Depression and Suicide Program at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, N.Y.

"We know cutting is also a risk factor for an eventual suicide attempt. It's cutting not with intent to kill yourself, but with the intent to self-injure. In psychology, we call it 'non-suicidal self-injury.' A lot of adolescents self-injure without the intent to kill themselves. They report different reasons they feel it helps, such as that the physical pain distracts them from the emotional pain."

In a recent photo, Paris was spotted in a Kurt Cobain T-shirt and a jacket with the arms rolled up, exposing her arms. There was also a social media video of Paris saying "Kurt Cobain is Jesus."The association with Kurt Cobain - the lead singer of the grunge band Nirvana known for songs about teen angst and for taking his own life at the height of his career - seems to be both an expression of frustration trying to live in the world, and also a connection to her father, another music industry star, said Judy Kuriansky, PhD, clinical psychologist, author, and adjunct psychology professor at Columbia University."I was very concerned when I saw a picture of her wearing the Kurt Cobain T-shirt," said Kuriansky. "His songs were all about teenage angst and he killed himself - the ultimate expression of getting past the pain."

Paris Fully Revealed As She Seeks to Create Her Own Identity

The irony of the public life Paris now has is that she was hidden as a child because her father said he wanted his children to have private lives - unlike his own childhood. Revealing herself could be a way of finding herself, her own voice, and also her being slightly rebellious."She is no longer covered, and it's the opposite psychologically," said Kuriansky. "Also, she is suddenly thrust into a very public life, a big change from the way she grew up.""No one knew who she was and she was hidden and now it's the opposite - going out there, spilling it all out, and then it leads to a panic attack," said Kuriansky. "She's too young to really integrate all of that. 'First, no one can know who I am, and I'm frightened to be seen. My father didn't let me be seen. Now I'm going to spill my beans everywhere but I don't really know who I am.' The other part of that is the guilt. She adores her father, and he kept her hidden. Now it's an internal rebellion and the guilt that she's doing something that her father would disapprove of. "

    Difficult to Get Past Depression

Depression is a marker for suicidal behavior. "And it's very common for bereavement to turn into longstanding depression for some children," said German. While many people may have assumed Paris had "healed" from her loss because she was becoming more public, it is an impossible trauma to overcome.Kurianksy pointed out another stressor in Paris' life: The Jackson family is suing AEG, the concert promoting company that handled Michael Jackson's last tour. In preparation for the wrongful death suit, Paris, along with her older sibling, Prince, will be called to testify. Kuriansky says Paris must go through practice runs with her attorneys, who are preparing her for the trial. It is likely to trigger painful memories of his death and of her loss."She's 15, and she's in the middle of a mock trial," said Kuriansky. "I think she is massively confused, depressed, and very self-destructive.""She's probably identifying with her father - she adored him - and now the mock trial is happening," she added. "[A suicide attempt] is a way for her confused mind to unite with her dad. [The trial preparation] is so traumatic for this 15-year-old girl who was 10 or 11 at the time her father died. So it's reviving all her feelings about her father and probably confused feelings about her father. "

"All these things put together, to me, clinically spell massive panic attack and depression, and huge fears and self-destruction," she said.Kurianksy made note of a photo of Paris wearing her father's iconic red jacket from the "Thriller" video. "That's her desire to unite with her father," said Kuriansky. On a psychological level, there could be a part of her that thinks of dying as a way of being with him, she said.Obviously, no one has the whole story or all the facts about Paris Jackson's state of mind. We can only hope that help is on the way. And her situation is a reminder that families need to pay attention when kids begin to show signs of stress, anxiety, and depression that can lead to self-harm."It's common for teens to have these kinds of experience," said Bryant. "But it's easy to minimize it and say they they are just trying to get attention or it's just teen drama. Oftentimes, for that person who is dealing with it, it feels so much bigger."
