I have failed to welcome any of you individually so I wanted to make a thread to formally thank you.

I know that your presence, wisdom and the courage you're demonstrating by being here will help many.

Yes indeed - welcome to these ones you mentioned and to any others we might have missed ! We are seeing a significant number of elders joining the forum lately and I feel many of these folks are just getting fed up with the " give until you have nothing left " syndrome pushed on them from the WT leaders as well as all the claims that only the GB is considered " the faithful slave " now. All of us eventually have our breaking points with this organization , whether we were elders, ministerial servants, pioneers, or whoever. It's just that the elders due to being in secret meetings with WT authority figures- get to see the really seedy, smarmy, and unjust stuff go on behind the scenes that normal rank & file JW's don't see . One reason again why I think we are seeing more elders here now

    Amen and amen.

    Welcome.

just be careful....... if you don't want to be exposed locally. You want to fade away discreetly...

Yes, welcome to all of you ex-elders, ex-MS's, ex-publishers, and everyone else!

Flipper made a good point. My family were not JW's, so I was a starry-eyed follower until I married an elder and got an insider's view of the workings of a cult.

I think their are more ex-Elders here than current elders at a typical District Convention!

Funny how everyone talks about how dumb, uneducated and clueless the elders in their individual congregations are ... now we are lauding the wisdom they bring to the forum?

Thanks to ALL who come here and bring their experiences and wisdom.

    Talesin's right.

Please know that my op was not meant to tout one group over another.

I had mentioned to a JW friend that there were active elders and ministerial servants that contributed to this forum and that, by observation, many individuals, elder or otherwise, may not have had that ridiculous label of "apostate". In unbelief, I was asked to produce a post of an elder. I couldn't find an introductory post fast enough before the request was retracted.

It was then that I realized that the person who had been raped or abused as a child, the person who lost all family/friends, and even the suicide mattered to him (I shared Oompa's story). It was ALL about the words of an elder.

Sickened me too. Given my very limited experience with one JW, I am just hoping stories like this will only serve to strengthen the chance for people like him to see what's really going on.
