They seem to be fringe JWs at best. Weak, irregular or inactive. Kind of like the Wiliams sisters

    They look more like druggies...

Well, if all they are eating is vegetables and fruit juice, they're in pretty bad shape themselves. Short on protein, B-vitamins, iron, essential fatty acids for the brain...

sub-normal people can have children - it sucks. but there it is.

Absolute nonsense to ever associate the parents' action to the fact that they are Jehovah's Witnesses. Total crap.

No doubt there will be the usual mantra: 'They're not REALLY Jehovah's witnesses(TM)' from the R&F.

Tut tut. The media is controlled by satan isn't it

No one in the congregation spoke up or noticed, but now that the media has gotten hold of the story, I can guarantee a JC is being formed. Why be pro-active when you can be reactive?...

Travis Telfair, a West Palm Beach elder with the Jehovah's Witnesses, said the religion does not prohibit those who need medical attention from seeking it.

"We seek the best medical care that we can," Telfair said.
However, those who practice the religion are not allowed to accept blood transfusions. Alternatives including a cell saver machine are permitted instead, he said.

Here is an elder who doesn't know 'WT speak.' But I'll give an "A" for honesty.

Aside from the glaring errors in stating JW beliefs - the WTS neither promotes nor prohibits vegetarian or vegan lifestyles, nor do they consider medical treatment (with the exception of blood transfusion) a measure of "last resort" - these parents are woefully misinformed about appropriate nutrition for their child and clearly mistrust the medical system available to them.

I hope local Child Protective Services finds a way to educate these folks about proper nutrition for their family.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of alternative practitioners who peddle "natural" stuff and terrify people with claims that the food available in supermarkets is poison. That's what this sounds like - an add-on to the already paranoid attitudes regarding doctors and hospitals and blood transfusions. It's so easy to get swept away by propaganda, especially if your critical thinking skills are minimal thanks to involvement with a high control belief system, and there are charlatans out there who see people like this coming and think nothing of taking advantage for their own gain.

I have serious doubts that these people are JW's in good standing. I would not be surprised if either the police or the reporters got it wrong.
