I heard that story at the district assembly. It did seem rather far fetched at the time but I believed it. I wondered how come I couldn't have a wonderful experience like that. It made me feel inadequate, of course. Try harder, try harder, that is the purpose of telling that story from the platform.

when i was studying a " sister" was asked to give an experience about me. i was never consulted about it and sure enough, although not a full on lie, it waswildly exaggerated

Just another story in the long line of dub fairy tales about the poor dubs who face any danger to get to the district assembly -- swim rivers filled with crocodiles, walk 50 miles (uphill both ways), walk protected with God's spirit through howling mobs, etc., etc.

Reminds me of the time I was asked to praise the "pioneers assist others" program for an interview at the circuit assembly ( I was the "others"). Only problem was that I was never assisted by the pioneer that was assigned to assist me. We had plans to go in service once but he cancelled them. I told the brothers this but apparently they were desperate for an example to use so they talked me into doing the interview. We came up with some generic stuff, nothing specific to me, but I guess it kept them off the black list. I was about 17 at the time, so it's kind of hard to put your foot down too hard and throw one of your peers under the bus if you don't want to be black listed yourself.

So, they punished the little girl and her dad, but did not take responsibility for the fact they didn't check on the story, not did they publish or announce a retraction.? They got the benefit of the lie, they are just as guilty. Well, at least there was some truth to it, I just assumed they made everything up to make the rest of us feel like losers.

In my opinion most JW experiences are like the game of Chinese whispers.
Fact: Girl places invite, someone attends meeting.
JW Fiction: Girl witnesses. Guy threatens to quit job because boss won't give him time off to attend meeting. In the meantime he's been witnessing himself (despite having to work) and brings 35 other 'interested' people.
Personally I have a hard time beleiving someone actually attended a JW meeting after receiving an invite.
Growing up we were always told about how well received the "truth" was in other (less developed) countries. How pioneers would literally get mobbed by groups of intersted people. How they were treated like rock stars. They'd need to start a new congregation every few blocks (I kidd you not).
I bet the reality of poineering in a less developed country was much different.

Lies. And don't try this yourself--if you have to work Friday, the boss could say "Good, you're fired" if you threaten to quit to go to the Grand Boasting Session on Friday. Or, they could say "Let's see if you can find another job out there", challenging the attendee. Remember, now is not the time to quit your work for something stupid like attending all three days of the Grand Boasting Session.
First, you will have trouble finding another job that pays anything like what you are making now. You WILL have to make deep sacrifices, usually threatening your ability to support yourself. Joke-hova will NOT lift a finger to help you find another job or give you a decent income. That thing seems to think a "decent" income is just enough to support what joke-hova needs you to have, not enough to live comfortably on. And having a reasonable abundance is a practical necessity--I view it as being as spiritual as attending any boasting session or field circus could have ever been.
Also, this is the time to prepare for the eventual collapse of the whole economic system. The toilet paper dollar is on borrowed time, and the longer it lasts, the worse the collapse will be. Had it collapsed in 1913, it would have been no worse than a mosquito bite. In 1929, more like a bee sting. But, it has gotten so people are going to be up sxxx creek without a paddle, in a barbed wire canoe, when it does happen. And, if it takes another 4 or 5 years, it will be even worse, leading to mass human enslavement, where it could have been simply another Grand Depression had it happened in 2008 or 2009. People need to prepare for this--cutting back on employment or quitting jobs is NOT going to help you. Instead, it is going to leave you destitute and ripe to be among the first to be enslaved when it does collapse, whether tomorrow or in another few years. Remember, the longer it takes, the worse it will be--and you do not want to be in debt from pious-sneering or excessive donations.
Let's not forget that other political situations are time bombs waiting to go off. I remember the energy crisis of 1973. Another one is probable, given the political situation that is parallel to the 1973 Yom Kippur War. Already, we have had a few incidents of localized rolling blackouts for infrastructure situations on the power grid. (And major blackouts--August 2003 is a key example.) Would you rather get your supplies now, given your dollars still buy something, than wait until widespread rolling blackouts become common? Right now, NiMH batteries including the Eneloops, Fenix flashlights, good lanterns, and good battery chargers are easy to find. CREE LED light bulbs are also easy to find, along with a few other decent brands costing less than some squiggly things. But, once we end up in an energy crisis or experience widespread failures on the power grid, these things are going to become impossible to find. And there is the random storm--if you were affected by Sandy, you know how quickly these supplies disappear when the emergency comes.
Yet, the Washtowel is urging the witlesses to instead use the funds to support the Worldwide Pedophile Defense Fund. Instead of getting these items ahead of the emergencies ahead, you are supposed to trust in joke-hova and pay that thing, even quitting your job to attend a Grand Boasting Session. Ask: Is joke-hova going to protect you from the next superstorm? Did that thing protect anyone from Sandy? Or Katrina, for that matter? Are you going to be able to get free CREE LED light bulbs from the Kingdumb Hell when the announcement is made that mandatory rationing of electricity is in place? Or good flashlights when rolling blackouts come to your town? Believe me, if you have spare funds to donate or can afford to take a day off to attend something this stupid, you should spend it on something to prepare yourself from a plausible crisis. Go to work, then place the money into a Fenix LD-22 flashlight. Or a Titanium 16-bay charger and 16 Eneloop batteries. Then, the next time you get a blackout, you will have supplies. Or, buy a case of CREE LED's--and then when the mandatory rationing of electricity comes, you have lights that use very little.
Or, you can skip work and attend the Grand Boasting Session. Then, when the emergency comes (and, given the storms, aging infrastructure, dollar being devalued, and the Middle East situation, it is when and not if), you will still be unprepared and scrambling, asking joke-hova for help. And that thing will simply laugh at you.

What about the Ethiopian teenager turning down a 3K euro a month job? I read this experience to a guy who works for a fair trade organisation and goes to Ethiopia several times a year & he nearly pished himself laughing. The only native people earning this kind of money are high up government officials. A teenage girl with basic schooling would be lucky to earn 20 euro a month. Over 75% of the population live on less than $1 a day. The idea that a child could walk into a highly paid job like that is just nonsense.

Consider the example of a teenage girl in the country of Ethiopia. She did so well in her schoolwork that upon completing her basic education, she was offered a scholarship for further education. Having her eye focused on serving Jehovah, however, she turned down the scholarship. Soon thereafter, she received a job offer that would pay her 3,000 euros a month—a high amount in comparison with the average wages in her country. But the girl’s “eye” was set on pioneer service. She did not need to consult her parents to turn down the job. How did her parents feel on learning what their daughter had done? Why, they rejoiced with her and told her how proud they were of her!
Actually I would have more respect for the WTBTS if they were honest & did make changes when they realised these experiences didn't check out.

I've met the family that provided this 'experience' a decade ago. I thought they were a bit on the odd side. The girl, Morgan, was a home schooled witness kid and part of her educational credits was 'volunteer work.' Her parents were so proud of her spiritual advancement - at such a young age! From what I understand, her father now 'partakes' at the Memorial. So...in the minds of the 'normal' JW's in the area this guy is now officially a dillusional weirdo.
This experience - though well known locally to be a fabrication - won't be erased from the publication. First - it's to old to worry about. Second - the WT society knows that if they don't mention something that might prove to be embarrassing, it 'disappears' from the collective mind of the faithful.
