Bummer! sorry to here your sadness. I do not have children so heart breaking to think about it.
I do remember a time I lived alone feeling isolated alone.

Well, I know what horse manure is, but what is tri-tip? I gather that it is beef from the mention of barbeque, but what part? I guess I've just never heard the term...I'm in Texas...we have lots of barbeque beef here (as well as horse manure).
Roberta804, thank you for your heart-warmed thoughts. It helps!
*lost*, you're right. It IS a form of torture! I'm sorry you're having a bad day and missing your son. If you want to PM, I'll respond!
Glander, except neither of those smells good!
LisaRose, nicely said. You've an eloquent way with words.
Skinnedsheep, thanks!
wasblind, I always love your responses to my threads. Thank you. Your comparison to the physical and psychological violence of slavery is very apt. The way the WT leadership treats its followers is definitely a form of slavery. How ironic they call themselves the "Faithful and Discreet Slave," and yet they act as an Evil Master!
sarahsmile, thanks for commenting.
Quandry, yeah, it's funny. Here on the West Coast we often call it "Texas Tri-tip" but none of the Texans I know have ever heard of it. You can read more about it here: Tri-tip.
I believe this is also called "London Broil" in some places.
You must slow-cook the s--- out of it to make it edible. Maybe that is why the other smell was in the air ?
Tri Tip, Floridians have Californan ship to them packed in dry ice.

Your TEST seemed to work. Thanks Simon.
gma-tired2, That's the stuff. Later I'll post my recipe of Santa Maria rub.
Thanks, Oubliette, for identifying the cut.
Here in Texas brisket is the main thing...you also have to cook this slowly for a long time or it can be like shoe leather. But cooked correctly it is indeed delicious with barbeque sauce.
It has been said that God gave us things to use and people to enjoy. When we lose our friends, whether they are related to us or not, we lose some joy. I am childless, so I cannot completely appreciate how painful your loss must be, Oubliette, but I know it cannot be completely assuaged. Nevertheless, you have gained much by leaving this execrable cult and I know you have counted your blessings. But I also know how much it would mean to you to have communication with your adult sons once more.
The best thing you can do is to continue living, loving and growing. You have a new life and you owe it to everyone involved in it not to mourn overmuch. That is more easily said than done, but I really believe it is the course you must take. And who is there knowing that your sons might not return your love someday and renew the ties you once had? The new life you now have will give you the vitality to welcome them back if and when that day of return arrives. I have every confidence that you can do this. You are a good man, a strong man. You also know how to reach out to others for support as you are doing now. Take that support and meld it with your inner strength. In this way, you’ll continue your life’s journey all the while being the wonderful person I’ve grown to respect, admire, and cherish.

I'm glad this thread is now available. It appeared locked yesterday.
Again, I vote for the tri-tip. I was on the fence but tri-tip won me over.
