Spielberg adds that so far he has not permitted his young son to watch some of his well-known movies (Jaws, the Indiana Jones series) because of the amount of blood and violence shown.

Reason #453 that Jehovahs Witnesses are a cult: they portray themselves as believing one thing to the public, but it is the opposite behind closed doors.

One CO cleared up the WT doublespeak to our body of elders saying, When the society says they "suggest" or "recommend" that you do something, what they really mean is "this is a directive."

So sure, they don't tell you what you can or can't do, they just "encourage" you with some "helpful suggestions" and if you don't heed them, get used to the chairs in the back room.

Another carefully crafted image for the casual observer, and already brainwashed Dub... Like mentioned before, go tell your Elders that you have read COC or ISOCF ot The Last Days are here again. Tell them that you just watched a rated-R movie, or that you love the series " MAD-MEN."

That ET article is hilarious! I wonder if they will ban Man of Steel? There are obvious Messianic overtones. Kal-EL and Jor-El.. EL... GOD?? Kal-El comes from the stars to save mankind?

"You can save them", says Jor-El, followed by this scene. Why did Kal-El have to do a slow-motion spin and stirke this pose? He could have just dove out into space to save Lois Lane without wasting precious time... This should be banned as Superman is make-believe. Caleb should not watch Man of Steel.

I told my wife that Superman was a messiah figure. She said that I see what I want to see, and she questions my comments about subliminal messages in advertising and movies. This seems like a slam-dunk to me.

I love Harry Potter, and The Lord of the Rings, and was even enjoying them when I was still going to meetings and conventions hearing thinly veiled references to the both of them in talks.

Talking of which, once a CO was saying how bad modern music was, and said "There is even a group called 'Garbage', if that doesn't say it all I don't know what does". Cue all the over 40s (at the time) laughing, and all the under 30s rolling their eyes, even the good WT boys and girls thought he was a twat.

it's done on an idividual case by case scenerio with the person you study with... what ever YOU really like, you will probably find out it is displeasing to Jehovah... then you will have to throw it out to get baptised to prove you hate what Jehovah hates..

I my case I was a big RUSH fan .. then they said their name means Ruled Under Satan's Hand... so I had to throw all my Rush albums and many others away.. It sucked..

Wow, just like KISS, aka. Knights in Satan's Service!

Let's not forget AC/DC - variously clamed to me Anti-Christ/Death to Christians or Anti-Christ/Devil's Child.

All of which are just as made up as your smurf thing.

This reminds me of one of my favorite Bethel stories.

In case you don't know, Bethelites aren't allowed to watch R-rated movies. In fact, it's an automatic kick to the curb. I personally knew a few brothers were immediately kicked out because they were caught watching one of the Matrix sequels.

Anyway, while I was there, the movie Saving Private Ryan premiered on NBC. It was aired commercial free and 100% unedited. If you haven't seen the movie, it's super violent. The morning after it aired, several people at my Morning Worship table talked about how they watched it! This included a Bethel Elder and his wife along with a couple others. It was pretty hard not to bite my tongue and raise a stink about it.

    Hypocrites.
