A sudden & complete collapse, as described above, would create a void, a vacuum. There would be a rush to fill it.

JW sheep, conditioned by decades of blind obedience, would desperately throw themselves at anything promising a hint of stability which would allow them to cling to their desperately held beliefs.

Former COs, DOs, elders, etc., addicted to the pseudo-prestige and power of their former lives would form local organizations promising "even without Brooklyn, we will still worship Jehovah!!!"

Abuses wrought by these megalomaniacs would dwarf anything caused by the current WTS.

I.e., instead of one united abusive cult, you'd get hundreds or thousands of far more dangerous & damaging groups.

IMHO, better to stick with the devil you know.

And that's the disturbing thing. That the GB could ever be better than the alternative. But sick as it is, you may have a point. Smaller groups could easily lead to radicalized JWs in some areas...

More so than now? That is scary.

When I say 'radicalized', I mean 'convinced to use violence as opposed to merely shunning'. But it's all hypothetical.

I can't help wanting to say the title of this thread in Arnold Schwarzenegger's voice. Is that just me? Maybe it's just the spelling of "Ovah" that got me.

interesting thread this---for me the watchtower really was over---30 odd years ago.

i knew my old mom and dad were still in it--but we rarely discussed it. i had absolutely no idea it had grown from the 1 million odd back then---to the alleged size it is now.

i only got interested in the whole deal a few years back---when my old dad told me my grown up son had been d/f'd. i hadnt had any contact with him for years. we are now in contact--he has no ongoing interest or involvement with the WT---or anything like this site. he's moved on--and is leading a successful life.

as far as he is concerned--the WT really has ended.

I agree with many that some would kill themselves others would be happy the nightmare is over and there would be those that would start their own WT like church. These would be the ones who are the most dangerous. Because for the first time those who are the head of it would have control over others. Control like they never had before. I forsee many Rev. Jones/David Koresh type groups. Nuttier than the WT could ever be. This is what cults spawn. Some groups wrose than the others but all looking for control. Totally ADD

The organization is tribal, the fanatical JWs would just create another similar organization.

Imagine an entire culture/ society dying-- that is what Jehovah's witnesses are.____Losingit

This has already happened durin' the Civil War

Black and white had to adjust to a new way of life

The only thing holdin' this farce of a religion together

is brain washin' folks into thinkin' that God requires

them to work for a free gift

And in order to get that gift you need to work

at least 10 hours in the fields every month

under the watchful eyes of the overseers and the drivers ( Elders )
