The CO and his wife have no home

For years the CO and his wife lived in rotating jw homes....for years. In some cases they stayed in the same home for several weeks in larger locales. The owner and his wife many times gave up the master bedroom and adjoining bathrrom for the CO and his wife. The travel trailer and a temporary space to park it was the next step and some KHs set up water and electricity and sewer hookups. Then some circuits had apartments at the AH or a central KH. But the tax structure in the US got more strict in the same category of "selling" publications, food at conventions, etc.

No retirement or social security, many of them both had to get jobs and if lucky were given a place to live by someone with money they cultivated over the years...friends. Many times their jobs were jw related as well.

I knew of some COs that were independently wealthy having inherited quite a bit from their non-jw family.

The CO's name was Ken Dahl, he was in the Pacific Northwest.

In Calgary there is a fairly new assembly hall with modular walls to accommodate multiple kingdom halls. There are apartments on the property and I always assumed they were for the CO.

It may be something the CO has chosen but the wife just as to go along with it. They give up having children. I wonder if they think its a good idea initially but it must get them down eventually.

I wouldn't last 2 days. The wives have to be happy and smiley constantly. The very thought of it depresses me

Some of you mention that CO's had trailers, for those that served in the New York and surrounding area that is not an option. I've known of a few that live in apt attached to the KH or just have an apt somewhere paid for by Bethel of course.

Always wondered how the women deal with a different house every week, especially every 28 days . . . . .

Plus what happens when they get suddenly sick just with a cold or something, or they stuck in the house they were to be in just for that visit? Oh well, they chose that life, I have no sympathy for them whatsoever, just wondering how they deal with certain issues

Shirley - the couple staying with my parents this week had stayed with them previously about a month ago but they both fell ill with flu so they didn't leave my parents bedroom and ended up staying there a few days more because they were both too ill to leave.

In fact my parents went on holiday and left them in the house.

I dont agree - with the very early average marriagable age of the Dubbies, a CO's wife has to have gone along with it. More and more it is the "School For Christian Couples" where the selections are made. Even the now defunct Gilead ended up as a couples club where only couples were selected, presumably with the female "attachment" allowed in case HE molested children, or copulated with occasional boys or married sisters.

(Or - JEHOOBIE FORFEND!!!! - pleasured himself)

A friend of mine visited NY many years ago and went for lunch with a young sister.

She ACTUALLY asked him "What are your ambitions with regard to the Truth? I want to be a Circuit overseers Wife."

Having testimony on this board that some women say "I am the CO's wife so I can < insert relevant verb>" we know that they see it as giving them status, much as the dumb blondes in the world are attracted to the rich and powerful.

One CO was a single man for many years, then he was roped in buy an Uber- elderette. He looked dreadful after a few months, and died a couple of years later.

Did the WT care for his widow?????????

The sad thing is a Co's wife can only get mad. She cannot get everything if it goes tits up.

Well, according to the Bible from the time he was baptized Jesus had no home of his own.

Paul had no home of his own, but then both were not married or had children (that is a thread in itself).

I knew 4 couples that went into the CO work after owning homes. They just rented out their houses. Good thing, 2 couples lasted only 3 years and found a good reason to get out and go home.

Many COs see it as a career move, move up to DOs, branch offices, even GB.

As to children, a CO's wife wouldn't be the first to Woops, I'm pregnant. I knew many Bethel couples that had the same thing happen...was it the water?

But then they too are told and tell others with strong assertions that the end is near and having children is not a good idea, woops.
