Reminds me of the vogon beaurocracy in the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy. Funny how ineptitude rises to the top, in some orgs.

It seems to be a similar venue here in the states. The convention is in the middle of nowhere in a town where they have a sewage plant right in the center.
I heard a man did show up at the convention because of,the invitation. He said he wanted to see the drama. But,because of,his appearance, the attendants stalked him the whole time he was there.

OMG! I remember the HUMUNGOUS walk to the Maine Road Stadium.
I also remember the LONNNG walk back after the evening sessions (they still had them then) with adults desperately singing Kindumb Songs to jolly us on when we were dead on our feet.
I'm looking around today (intermission right now). If anyone from the outside came to this drivel session, I'd eat my shoes.
Non-Jws possible
non-jw marriage mate or relative who occasionally come
"bible" student
never baptized adult child
BTW, I don't think jws drive 300 miles to drop off tracts, the local congregation does that. But that does mean they have to travel 300 miles to the convention.
When I was younger we were assigned to Minneapolis area twice and Winnipeg one year, Kansas City another. Those were big conventions .
Correct Blondie. It was the local congregation that left the tract but the DC is about 300 miles away from us. Sorry to all if I mislead you. I drive my wife crazy sometimes because as she say I presume people know what I am talking about. Totally ADD
I used to work in parking at the convention - they allocate a number of spaces for "invitees". If anyone comes to the entrance saying they are there in response to the tract they will get waved through. Unfortuantely at the convention I was assigned to , they drastically overestimated the number of spaces they would need.
I've heard it said by many witnesses that all of these "special campaigns" are really just to get US out in service more, makes it easier for people who find the preaching work difficult.
Agreed. I think it's a ploy to keep hours up.
I never once invited anyone to an assembly or a memorial....
watchtower clearly don't want unbelievers seeing that CRAZY side to the religion, I mean really, it is mental to sit in a stadium for 3 boring days listening to how everyone is going to die but us because we go to meetings and annoy everyone on Saturday mornings... Then there is the drama!
nobody gets in without a badge...
IT's a con... There will be some tax issue about it being public or putting on a public teaching weekend or something. Largely I think it is about appeasing witnesses that may wonder why we don't invite people to them.... They used to be a big deal. Nowadays the JWs don't want talks being repeated on BBC news or in THE TIMES. Russell one hundred years ago, seemed a bit preachy but not crazy. WT teachings just sound nuts in 2013. Bible study literature and the bible study process is done in a way to dip people in gently with regard to the beliefs and practices and most of the weird stuff is barely mentioned anymore. No more bands of metal around the tree trunks or the king of the north or how 1914 was arrived at... Now they just say 'in the last century.....'
WT do not want non-JWs at the assembly..... That is a brainwashing weekend for you guys..... Nothing else. Its an annual Windows Update install..... Its not for open source thinkers.... ;) geektastic
