My IFB preachers taught that the AC was a man who will be empowered by Satan and will bring about world peace for 42 months or times time and a half (3 and 1/2 years). This, of course, happens after the rapture of the church and during the 7 year tribulation period (basically the plot in the Left Behind movies).

This crowd wears Christian garb (has the look), but presents an alternate Christianity. They use the right words with a spin, a distorted understanding of the Father and Son; a deceptive illusion of Christianity.

I have heard varied themes as well. Satan in the flesh, the progeny of Satan, etc. I believe that the antichrist is symbolic of anyone or anything that opposes Christ (The Annointed of God), while appearing to BE Christ.
