Lost.... That's all cancer is..... A cell that wont die and keeps knocking out copies..... It grows into a lump = tumor.
As for living outside the human body, they provide it nutrients and keep it in an environment that allows it to grow.
Isn't this just about her cells being 'immortal' because they sequenced her genome? It's not that her cells were actually immortal. The word Immortal only refers to the information about her...the information is immortal.
These unusual cells don't die after a few days. Scientists have grown 20 tons of these cells. Henrietta died age 31.

Lost without reading the article, im sure the cells die if not fed nutrients. Be careful with the true mean of words. Those cells may be able to surivive in different environments, but they are certainly not immportal. All life and machbines require power.
