Another hypocrisy by the WT?

In the last year the WT has brought out that in 1918 Jesus upon inspection chose the JW's to be his earthly organization and before 1918 there was no ORG all the way back since the death of the last apostles. Only a few anointed christians. Does this scripture not blow up that idea, of no earthly ORG until 1918???

    Matthew 16:17-19

    New King James Version (NKJV)

17 Jesus answered and said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. 18 And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. 19 And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed [ a ] in heaven.”

I don't think "My church" means one and only one organizational hierarchy.

Paul planted churches in many locations, and they didn't have a central GB running them all.

That said, the new WT teaching runs counter to everything they have been saying about Jehovah always having exactly one organization.

I don't understand how any JW could consider this to be no change or even a minor change.

I realize the scripture and the context means a spiritual church, there are other scriptures that say god does not reside in building so to speak so I know he doesn't have and earthly ORg like that of the JW's or any other. But can these scriptures show that the JW's idea of one org starting only after 1918 is obviously wrong????

This is an interesting dilema I have been trying to wrap my mind around recently. Micah 4 about the nations streaming to the mountain of Jehovah is another one. They have recently eben featured in articles, the DC, and I have heard some people I have had discussions with parrot them back to me.

I believe when all else fails, and they KNOW that their theology is shakey, they remind people we don't believe in the trinity, we don't believe in hell, the medical community responds to our no blood policy with "better medicine" for all of humanity, and who else is proclaiming these unique truths (the "basics" as I have heard them referred to) in over 600 languages, to reach every corner of the earth with the name and merits of God?

Honestly, I don't know how to respond as of right now, without going into dark corners of other arguements. This one is CONSISTANTLY the top one I hear currently. If this isn't the truth, there is none and other such onsense, based around the worldwide preaching work doctrine.

    Thoughts?

Problemaddict, in Philippians paul spoke of not caring how and who spread the Good news about christ, If peoples motives were pure or not as long as the message was spread. I see that in most christian religions were the good news is spreading world wide. The JW's on the other hand are spreading another message altogether different. Their message is about the Kingdom and Jehovah, and thats OK too except they claim they're the only one spreading the message of the good news of the kingdom. But if you were to look at the bible there are over 100 places were the good news is mentioned talking about Christ and only 8 talking about the Kingdom. Also if one were to read Acts, Romans and just about every new testament book after the gospels the apostles and disciples were always talking about the good news as Christ. Read Acts chapter 9.

So just remember Rutherford wanted to be different from other christian religions thats why he changed the name to Jehovah's witnesses and not Jesus witness. And don't forget 1 john 5:1 that everyone that believes in the messiah is Gods sons, the WT says no this is not correct only 144,000 Jehovah's witnesses are Gods sons. So the WT teaches something contrary to the bible and so is there message, they are infact the apostates.

Just a side point....in Matthew, Jesus tells Peter he will be the rock on which to build the church. However as Ding mentioned it was Paul that went round setting up the "Christian" churches?? So where did Peter go and why are we listening to this Paul guy?

Crazyguy: I'm gonna give it a go when this new light is studied. In my mind it that scripture completely blows up their new light ideas but as Problemaddict said when doctrine is questionable the mindset kicks in and they will start reciting why JW's are the only true religion. Lol I just heard that since the GB are now travelling around giving zone talks that shows Jehovahs approval?? BUt its so terrible when other clergy use the church money to travel around. Oh the ridiculousness!

Thinking_ability just a quick note Jesus said on this rock he will build the church, not Peter is the rock, so Paul is OK.

I realise the JW's think that Jesus was the foundation rock and not Peter as the Catholic church claim. Just wondering what your view was?
