FULFILL YOUR ROLE
AS AN EVANGELIZER
“Do the work of
an evangelizer, fully
accomplish your
ministry.”—2 TIM. 4:5.
HOW WOULD YOU ANSWER?
What is an evangelizer?
Why do people need to hear
the good news?
What do successful
evangelizers do?
OPENING COMMENTS
This article shows that the WTS is aware of the sham evangelizing done by many jws. Is that because jws can only serve for a date? The words “successful” (4 times) and “effective” (8 times) pop up often.
What is a role? Is it a way of life? Or only something done 10 hours a month/the unofficial monthly hourly goal for jws? The WTS puts 4 presentations in every monthly KM…how many times is “good news” in that introduction? How often are jws directed to say “Jehovah” or “Jehovah God” or is it always “God”? You’d be surprised that in 48 sample presentations each in the KM, not once are jws directed to use God’s name.
What is the good news according to the WTS? Do non-jws realize that the destruction of wickedness on earth means the destruction of over 7.5 billion non-jws, men, women, and children, even ones in the womb.
*** w88 1/1 p. 16 par. 10 The Last Days—A Time of Harvest ***
Yes, all mankind is being scrutinized to see who are “sheep” and who are “goats.” How is this examining work accomplished? In John’s vision, “the harvest of the earth” is reaped in conjunction with powerful messages proclaimed by angels. One angel declares a message of “everlasting good news.” Another announces the fall of “Babylon the Great.” And a third warns against worship of “the wild beast,” Satan’s political system of things. (Revelation 14:6-10) True, nobody has heard the actual voices of these angels. But they have heard corresponding messages being uttered by faithful humans. (Matthew 24:14; Isaiah 48:20; Zechariah 2:7; James 1:27; 1 John 2:15-17) So, clearly, the messages are broadcast by human mouthpieces under angelic direction. A person is identified as a ‘sheep’ or as a ‘goat’ by the way he responds to the angelic messages. During this 20th century, only Jehovah’s Witnesses have cooperated with the angels in this vital work.
*** w88 1/1 p. 26 par. 5 Keep On Preaching the Kingdom ***
Similarly today, the preaching of the good news as “a witness to all the nations” is a basis for judgment. The apostle Paul makes this clear when he states that Christ Jesus will bring vengeance upon “those who do not know God and those who do not obey the good news about our Lord Jesus.” (2 Thessalonians 1:8, 9) People will be judged by their response to the good news. Hence, the preaching work must continue loud and clear right to the end. (Revelation 14:6, 7)
And who only are those who know and obey?
*** w89 9/1 p. 19 par. 7 Remaining Organized for Survival Into the Millennium ***
Only Jehovah’s Witnesses, those of the anointed remnant and the “great crowd,” as a united organization under the protection of the Supreme Organizer, have any Scriptural hope of surviving the impending end of this doomed system dominated by Satan the Devil. (Revelation 7:9-17; 2 Corinthians 4:4) They will make up the “flesh” that Jesus Christ said would be saved through the worst tribulation of all human history.
START OF ARTICLE
1. Why can Jehovah be called the first and foremost Evangelizer?
AN EVANGELIZER is someone who tells good
news. The first and foremost Evangelizer is Jehovah
God. Immediately after the rebellion of our first parents,
Jehovah announced the good news that the
serpent—actually, Satan the Devil—will be destroyed.
(Gen. 3:15) Throughout the centuries, Jehovah inspired
faithful men to write down details about how
his name will be cleared of reproach, how the damage
caused by Satan will be undone, and how humans
can regain the opportunities forfeited by Adam
and Eve.
First and foremost Evangelizer is Jehovah—Where is Jesus?
Did Adam and Eve share with their children and grandchildren, that the serpent, Satan the Devil, would be destroyed? So did Noah preach to people of his time about the good news about the destruction of Satan; did Lot preach to the people of Sodom and Gomorrah about the same? Not until Job’s day 1657 BCE….Good news declared prior to that by Noah? Did Job know?
*** si p. 95 Bible Book Number 18—Job ***
Time Covered: Over 140 years between 1657 and 1473 B.C.E.
Then term “devil” does not even appear in the NWT until the OT.
2. (a) What part do angels play in connection with the evangelizing
work? (b) What standard did Jesus set for evangelizers?
2 Angels too are evangelizers. They themselves tell
good news, and they assist others in spreading good
news. (Luke 1:19; 2:10; Acts 8:26, 27, 35; Rev. 14:6)
What about the archangel Michael? While on earth
as Jesus, he set the standard for human evangelizers.
Why, Jesus built his life around spreading the good
news!—Luke 4:16-21.
How do many jws understand the angels “helping”: performing miracles by send jws to homes of people who just prayed to God; individual jws being protected in the preaching.
Do angels speak to individual witnesses as Luke 1:19 and 2:10 says? Or telling jws what houses or people to call on as Acts 8:26,27,35 says?
What about a man I knew who had witnesses place books with him and said they would come back…then 4 years later he as the witness if he was really coming back because the last 3 said the same and never came back. Where were the angels?
Does God promise individual protection per the WTS?
*** w08 9/15 p. 9 par. 8 Jehovah Is “the Provider of Escape” for Us ***
As individuals, we know that our immediate physical protection is not guaranteed. We take the position expressed by the three faithful Hebrews who refused to bow down to King Nebuchadnezzar’s image of gold. Those God-fearing young men did not presume that Jehovah would miraculously protect them from physical harm. (Read Daniel 3:17, 18.) As matters turned out, Jehovah did deliver them from the flames of the fiery furnace. (Dan. 3:21-27) Even in Bible times, however, miraculous deliverance was the exception rather than the rule. Many faithful servants of Jehovah died at the hands of opposers.—Heb. 11:35-37.
And where is the scriptural proof that Michael is Jesus in this article? Is it a indisputable fact now?
*** it-2 p. 393 Michael ***
Scriptural evidence indicates that the name Michael applied to God’s Son before he left heaven to become Jesus Christ and also after his return. Michael is the only one said to be “the archangel,” meaning “chief angel,” or “principal angel.” The term occurs in the Bible only in the singular. This seems to imply that there is but one whom God has designated chief, or head, of the angelic host.
*** g02 2/8 p. 17 Who Is Michael the Archangel? ***
Aside from Michael, no archangel is mentioned in the Bible, nor do the Scriptures use the term “archangel” in the plural. The Bible describes Michael as the archangel, implying that he alone bears that designation. Hence, it is reasonable to conclude that Jehovah God has delegated to one, and only one, of his heavenly creatures full authority over all other angels.
Did Jesus preach about the good news the whole 33.5 years of his life on earth or only from 29 to 33 CE, 3.5 years?
3. (a) What is the good news that we spread? (b) What questions
are of interest to us as evangelizers?
3 Jesus commanded his disciples to be evangelizers.
(Matt. 28:19, 20; Acts 1:8) The apostle Paul urged
his coworker Timothy: “Do the work of an evangelizer,
fully accomplish your ministry.” (2 Tim. 4:5) What
is the good news that we as Jesus’ followers spread?
It includes the reassuring truth that our heavenly Father,
Jehovah, loves us. (John 3:16; 1 Pet. 5:7) A key
way that Jehovah God expresses his love is through
his Kingdom. Therefore, we gladly tell others that all
who submit to Kingdom rule, obey God, and do what
is righteous can have a relationship with him as his
friends. (Ps. 15:1, 2) In fact, it is Jehovah’s purpose
to do away with all unjust suffering. He
will also remove the pain caused by
memories of past suffering. What good
news! (Isa. 65:17) Since we are evangelizers,
let us consider the answers to two
important questions: Why is it vital that
people hear the good news today? And
how can we successfully fulfill our role
as evangelizers?
Actually, Jesus said his followers would be witnesses of Jesus (not Jehovah).
What was the good news that Christians (named such by divine providence, not jws) preached?
The good news about the Christ
The good news about the kingdom
How many times do the sample presentations use “kingdom”? 6/11 2 times…
“voluntarily” submit?
Obey God = obey the organization
*** w11 7/15 p. 28 par. 16 God’s Rest—What Is It? ***
We can enter into Jehovah’s rest—or join him in his rest—by obediently working in harmony with his advancing purpose as it is revealed to us through his organization.
*** w10 4/15 p. 10 par. 12 Holy Spirit’s Role in the Outworking of Jehovah’s Purpose ***
By being obedient and loyal to the direction received from the earthly part of God’s organization, you show that you are keeping pace with Jehovah’s celestial chariot and are working in harmony with his holy spirit.—Heb. 13:17.
*** w88 4/1 p. 31 Is Obedience Always Proper? ***
When our heavenly Father, Jehovah God, speaks, whether through his Word, the Bible, or through his earthly organization, it is all the more important for us to listen and obey , thus proving that we are obedient worshipers who do not ignore the loving reminder: “Did you hear me?”
Relationship with God = where’s Jesus? The WTS only mentions a general relationship with Jesus 3 times…the rest are specifically regarding the anointed and not many of those.
What is “just” suffering? The little children who died during the flood, Sodom and Gomorrah, and Armaggedon, eternal destruction?
WHY DO PEOPLE NEED
TO HEAR THE GOOD NEWS?
4. What untrue stories are people sometimes
told regarding God?
4 Imagine being told that your father
has abandoned you as well as the rest of
your family. Suppose those who claimed
to know him say that he was aloof, secretive,
and cruel. Some might even have
you believe that it is no use trying to
reestablish contact with your father because
he is dead. In effect, many are
told similar stories about God. They are
taught that God is a mystery, that he is
unknowable, or that he is cruel. For example,
some religious leaders claim that
God will punish bad people forever in
a place of torment. Others attribute to
God the suffering caused by natural disasters.
Although these events kill good
people as well as bad, they are said to be
punishment from God.
This analogy stinks…this is how things work in the congregations…those claiming to know a person say bad things about him/her. That you should not have contact with them (df) because they would have been put to death under the Law (unless you are David).
The WTS teaches that God will punish children with eternal death because their parents sinned.
But God has destroyed people with floods, fire, windstorms, disease, earthquakes (Korah, children died too). What about the 70,000 killed for David’s sin? Were all 70,000 bad? Did God do it to David, did he die, did any of his family die?
*** w88 4/1 p. 31 Is Obedience Always Proper? ***
When our heavenly Father, Jehovah God, speaks, whether through his Word, the Bible, or through his earthly organization, it is all the more important for us to listen and obey, thus proving that we are obedient worshipers who do not ignore the loving reminder: “Did you hear me?”
(1 Chronicles 21:7-15) 7 Now this thing was bad in the eyes of the [true] God, and so he struck down Israel. 8 Consequently David said to the [true] God: “I have sinned very much in that I have done this thing. And now, please, cause your servant’s error to pass away; for I have acted very foolishly.” 9 And Jehovah proceeded to speak to Gad, David’s visionary, saying: 10 “Go, and you must speak to David, saying, ‘This is what Jehovah has said: “There are three things that I am directing against you.Choose for yourself one of them, that I may do it to you.”’” 11 Accordingly Gad went in to David and said to him: “This is what Jehovah has said, ‘Take your pick, 12 whether for three years there is to be a famine; or for three months there is to be a sweeping away from before your adversaries and for the sword of your enemies to overtake [you], or for three days there is to be the sword of Jehovah, even pestilence, in the land, with Jehovah’s angel bringing ruin in all the territory of Israel.’ And now see what I should reply to the One sending me.” 13 So David said to Gad: “It is very distressing to me. Please, let me fall into the hand of Jehovah, for very many are his mercies; but into the hand of man do not let me fall.” 14 Then Jehovah gave a pestilence in Israel, so that out of Israel seventy thousand persons fell. 15 Moreover, the [true] God sent an angel to Jerusalem to bring ruin to it; and as soon as he began bringing the ruin, Jehovah saw it and began to feel regret over the calamity; and so he said to the angel that was bringing the ruin: “It is enough! Now let your hand drop.” And Jehovah’s angel was standing close by the threshing floor of Or′nan the Jeb′u·site.
*** w69 3/15 p. 191 Questions From Readers ***
As a punishment for this sin Jehovah brought three days of pestilence that killed 70,000 Israelites. (2 Sam. 24:12-16) Was that unjust? Were 70,000 innocent people dying for the king’s error? The Bible plainly shows that we all are sinners deserving of death; it is only by God’s undeserved kindness that we live. (Rom. 3:23; 6:23; Lam. 3:22, 23) So those who died had no special “right” to life. Additionally, can any human today say for sure that those 70,000 were not guilty of some serious sin not mentioned in the historical record?
5, 6. How have the theory of evolution and
false doctrines affected people?
5 Others assert that God does not exist.
In this regard, consider the theory
of evolution. Many who champion
it declare that life came about without
any intelligent direction. They claim that
there is no Creator. Some have even said
that a human is just another animal,
so it should come as no surprise when
a person acts in an animalistic fashion.
They argue that the strong who cruelly
dominate the weak are just following so-called
laws of nature. So it is not surprising
that many believe that injustice will
always be with us. Therefore, those who
put faith in evolution are robbed of true
hope.
When jws disobey God and are only worried if humans see them, are they proclaiming they believe God exists?
(Ezekiel 8:12) 12 And he proceeded to say to me: “Have you seen, O son of man, what the elderly ones of the house of Israel are doing in the darkness, each one in the inner rooms of his showpiece? For they are saying, ‘Jehovah is not seeing us. Jehovah has left the land.’”
(James 2:19) 19 You believe there is one God, do you? You are doing quite well. And yet the demons believe and shudder.
“Others assert”
Many
They claim
They argue
WHO are these person?
6 Without doubt, the theory of evolution
and false doctrines have contributed
to the misery that mankind has
experienced during the last days. (Rom.
1:28-31; 2 Tim. 3:1-5) These human
teachings have brought no real and lasting
good news. Instead, as the apostle
Paul notes, they have left people “in
darkness mentally, and alienated from
the life that belongs to God.” (Eph. 4:
17-19) In addition, the theory of evolution
and false doctrines have hindered
people from accepting the good news
originating with God.—Read Ephesians
2:11-13.
Without doubt – where is the WTS proof?
False doctrines of the WTS causing misery
No organ transplants from 1967 to 1980: jws who died during that period having refused a transplant
Allowing fractions – jws who died prior to that
Women/men who divorced their homosexual/lesbian mates before the light shone and were df’d
That jws could not accept community service in lieu of military service and spent years in prison
Who are in darkness mentally then – the WTS
7, 8. What is the only way that people can fully
grasp the good news?
7 To become reconciled to God, people
must first be convinced that Jehovah
exists and that there are good reasons
for drawing close to him. We can
help them to gain that knowledge by
encouraging them to examine creation.
When people study creation with an
open mind, they learn of God’s wisdom
and power. (Rom. 1:19, 20) In an effort
to help people develop a sense of awe
when they think about what our Grand
Creator has accomplished, we can use
the two brochures Was Life Created? and
The Origin of Life—Five Questions Worth
Asking. Even so, those who learn only
from creation will not find answers to
some of life’s most perplexing questions,
such as these: Why does God allow
suffering? What is God’s purpose
for the earth? Does God care about me
as an individual?
Convinced God exists – see paragraph above – do their actions prove it?
Study creation with an open mind or an empty head?
Brochures mentioned online
http://www.jw.org/en/publications/books/?start=24
http://wol.jw.org/en/wol/lv/r1/lp-e/0/19425
Why does God kill innocent children for the sins of their parents?
(Ezekiel 18:20) 20 The soul that is sinning—it itself will die. A son himself will bear nothing because of the error of the father, and a father himself will bear nothing because of the error of the son. Upon his own self the very righteousness of the righteous one will come to be, and upon his own self the very wickedness of a wicked one will come to be.
8 The only way that people can fully
grasp the good news about God and his
purpose is by studying the Bible. What
a privilege we have to help people find
answers to their questions! To reach the
heart of our listeners, though, we need to
do more than inform them of facts; we
must persuade them. (2 Tim. 3:14) We
can become more persuasive by following
Jesus’ example. Why was he so successful?
One reason is that he used questions
effectively. How can we imitate
him?
Shouldn’t the bible be the source, not a publication by imperfect humans? Does the WTS claim that its publications are inspired?
Does the WTS study the bible or WTS publications with a scripture snippet or citation on the side?
Yes, don’t confuse them with the facts.
SUCCESSFUL EVANGELIZERS USE
QUESTIONS EFFECTIVELY
9. If we are to help people in a spiritual way,
what must we do?
9 Why should we, like Jesus, use questions
in the evangelizing work? Well,
consider this scenario: Your doctor tells
you that he has good news. He can cure
your illness if you undergo serious surgery.
You might believe him. But what
if he makes that promise even before
he asks you any questions about your
health? Then it is unlikely that you will
have confidence in him. No matter how
talented the doctor may be, he needs to
ask questions and listen to what your
symptoms are before he can give any
meaningful help. Similarly, if we are to
help people accept the good news of the
Kingdom, we must master the art of asking
effective questions. Only after we
gain a clear picture of their spiritual condition
can we assist them.
Scenario = analogy = illustration
Reminds me how elders (and other jws) come up to people at the KH and ask “How are you?” and never wait to hear your answer. Do they want to positively know the appearance of the flock? Or judge you based on the imperfect information of other humans and come to you with a diagnosis. Do the elders ask effective questions or accusatory questions not having heard the matter from your side?
(Proverbs 18:13) 13 When anyone is replying to a matter before he hears [it], that is foolishness on his part and a humiliation.
(James 2:14-16) . . .15 If a brother or a sister is in a naked state and lacking the food sufficient for the day, 16 yet a certain one of YOU says to them: “Go in peace, keep warm and well fed,” but YOU do not give them the necessities for [their] body, of what benefit is it?
10, 11. What may we be able to accomplish by
imitating Jesus’ way of teaching?
10 Jesus knew that well-chosen questions
not only help a teacher learn
about a student but also get the listener
involved in the discussion. For example,
when Jesus wanted to teach
his disciples a lesson in humility, he
first put a thought-provoking question
to them. (Mark 9:33) To teach Peter how
to reason on principles, Jesus asked
him a multiple-choice question. (Matt.
17:24-26) On another occasion, when Jesus
wanted to draw up what was in the
heart of his disciples, he asked a series
of viewpoint questions. (Read Matthew
16:13-17.) By using questions and making
statements, Jesus did more than impart
facts. He touched hearts, motivating
people to act in harmony with the good
news.
Isn’t using multiple-choice question telling them how you want them to think, your way?
Isn’t starting with the facts mandatory…how can you reason on lies and wrong information?
In harmony with the WTS organization = good news
*** w12 7/15 p. 26 par. 15 “Of Whom Shall I Be in Dread?” ***
Acting in harmony with this prayer means paying careful attention to any Bible-based direction that we receive through Jehovah’s organization and applying it at once.
11 When we imitate Jesus by using
questions effectively, we do at least three
things. We discover how we can best
help people, we overcome potential conversation
stoppers, and we teach humble
ones how they can benefit themselves.
Consider three scenarios showing how
we can use questions to good effect.
Conversation stoppers = a euphemism that WTS now uses for “objections”
*** km 10/10 p. 1 par. 2 “Do Not Be Afraid” ***
Adequate preparation can do much to allay our fears. For instance, if we review in advance potential conversation stoppers, we will be prepared to answer common objections. (Prov. 15:28) Why not use practice sessions during Family Worship to prepare for various challenges at school and in the ministry?—1 Pet. 3:15.
12-14. How can you help a child to be more
confident about sharing the good news? Give
an example.
12 Scenario 1: As a parent, what would
you do if your teenage child expressed
concern about being able to defend his
belief in creation when talking with a
classmate? No doubt you would want to
help him to be confident about sharing
the good news. So rather than criticizing
him or immediately offering advice,
why not imitate Jesus’ example and ask
some viewpoint questions? How could
you do so?
How many parents are equipped to make an effective answer to people at the door, work, neighbors but avoid the issue by saying they will research and come back and do not come back?
Obviously, the same old problem is cropping up again, jw children respond “I believe this way because my parents say I should” or “I believe this way because I am a jw” but have to concrete scriptural explanation.
The WTS made a point about teach children about blood transfusions because of teenagers not being equipped to express a personal opinion only their parents’ or the organization’s.
*** w98 3/15 p. 19 par. 4 Living Up to Christian Dedication in Freedom ***
In order to avoid misunderstandings, Jehovah’s Witnesses try to be careful about how they express themselves. Instead of saying, “the Society teaches,” many Witnesses prefer to use such expressions as, “the Bible says” or, “I understand the Bible to teach.” In this way they emphasize the personal decision that each Witness has made in accepting Bible teachings and also avoid giving the false impression that Witnesses are somehow bound to the dictates of some religious sect.
PICTURE: To reach the heart of
our listeners, we must
persuade them
13 After reading with your child portions
from the brochure The Origin of
Life—Five Questions Worth Asking, you
could ask what arguments he finds most
thought provoking. Encourage him to
discover his own reasons why he is persuaded
to believe in a Creator and why
he wants to do God’s will. (Rom. 12:2)
Let your child know that his reasons do
not have to be exactly the same as yours.
Teach them from the bible or a publication…what did Jesus use, the scriptures or a man-made writing like the Talmud to teach his followers?
Were they taught to parrot the words of the religious leaders even when they could see it did not come from the Torah?
So what reasons can a jw have to believe in a creator that “do not have to be exactly the same as” their parents, the elders, the organization?
14 Explain to your child that when
talking with a classmate, your youngster
could follow the pattern you have
demonstrated. That is, he could review
some facts and then ask leading or viewpoint
questions. For instance, a classmate
could be asked to read the box on
page 21 of the Origin of Life brochure.
Your child could then ask, “Is it true
that the capacity of DNA for storing information
still has no parallel in today’s
computer age?” The classmate will likely
answer yes. Then your child could ask,
“If human computer technicians cannot
achieve such results, how could mindless
matter do so on its own?” To help
your child become more comfortable
when conversing with others about his
faith, you can regularly conduct practice
sessions with him. If you train him to use
questions effectively, you will help him to fulfill his
role as an evangelizer.
Read the bible or read the box? Are jws teaching their children to parrot WTS reasoning or the bible?
Regularly conduct practice sessions – do the parents practice?
So is the child going to be given a script to use or their own trained reasoning? Will words be put in their mouths?
Practice sessions…did Jesus conduct practice sessions, priming the pump so to speak?
Follow the pattern you have demonstrated – so how many parents have talked to workmates or neighbors this way?
15. How might we use questions in an effort to
help an atheist?
15 Scenario 2: In our witnessing work,
we meet those who doubt that God exists.
For example, a person might tell us
that he is an atheist. Instead of letting
that comment stop the conversation, we
could respectfully askhow long he has
been an atheist and what caused him
to adopt that view. After listening to his
answers and complimenting him on giving
the matter serious thought, we could
ask if he felt that it would be wrong to
read material that presented evidence
that life was created. If the householder
is open-minded, he would likely say
that it would be unreasonable to refuse
to look at such evidence. We could then
offer him either the brochure Was Life
Created? or the one entitled The Origin of
Life—Five Questions Worth Asking. Tactful
questions, kindly asked, can act as a key
that opens a person’s heart to the good
news.
Doubt God’s existence
Why, because they have seen the bad behavior by those who claim to believe in his existence?
Oy……I tried that tactic, how long, what caused to become an atheist.
I was tactful, but my companion jw escalated into a shouting match, the PO and his superior training. Made me wondered if he shouted at jws in the congregation, other elders, his family.

PICTURE: Effective questions . . .
1. Help people to discover their own reasons for their beliefs.
2. Open their mind and heart to accept the truth
3. Help them to reasons so as to arrive at the correct conclusions
16. Why should we not settle for having a Bible
student read answers from a Bible study aid?
1 help people to discover their
16 Scenario 3: When conducting a Bible
study, we might simply have the student
repeat answers printed in a Bible
study aid. If we do so, however, we could
stunt the spiritual growth of the student.
Why? Because a student who repeats answers
without meditating on them is unlikely
to grow deep spiritual roots. He
could easily end up being like a plant
that withers under the heat of opposition.
(Matt. 13:20, 21) To help avoid that
outcome, we need to ask our student
how he feels about what he is learning.
Try to discover if he agrees with the
points made. More important, have him
say why he agrees or disagrees. Then
help him to reason on the Scriptures
so that he will eventually be able to arrive
at correct conclusions by himself.
(Heb. 5:14) If we use questions effectively,
individuals we teach are more likely
to be solidly rooted in the faith and to
be able to resist the efforts of those who
would oppose or mislead them. (Col. 2:
6-8) What else can we do to fulfill our
role as evangelizers?
we might simply have the student repeat answers printed in a Bible
study aid---This is how studies are conducted now, for years
Go to any KH and this is the pattern you will observe 1) read answers from study book/magazine 2) rearrange or substitute a few words 3) give a brief personal experience (audience thinks: oh no, there goes Sister Elderly again, stumbling through her past and conductor, gotta cut it short or we will go overtime 4) bring in an interesting point not covered in the material (elders have to counsel that person reminding them that the slave has provided all the food we need, nothing needs to be added
Ask how he FEELS, by now the student knows there is only one right answer
Can long time jws arrive at correction conclusions by themselves or are they running to the elders?
The WTS cannot escape their past, being hung by their own words.
Try to discover if he agrees

SUCCESSFUL EVANGELIZERS
ASSIST ONE ANOTHER
17, 18. When accompanying someone in the
ministry, how can we work as a team?
17 Jesus sent his disciples out in the
preaching work by twos. (Mark 6:7; Luke
10:1) Later, the apostle Paul mentioned
“fellow workers” who had “striven side
by side with [him] in the good news.”
(Phil. 4:3) In harmony with that Scriptural
precedent, in 1953, Kingdom publishers
began a program of training others in
the ministry.
Work by twos – before 1953, new jws would be sent off by themselves with no training, before 1940 there wasn’t even a formal individual bible study (indoctrination) session.
My mother was in that training and they had to make up their own presentation using 7 scripture points…can you imagine how hard it was to find someone at the door willing to stand there and listen?
18 When you accompany another
Christian in the ministry, how can you
work as a team? (Read 1 Corinthians 3:
6-9.) In your Bible, look up the scriptures
that your partner is using. Keep your attention
turned to your partner and to the
householder when either of them is talking.
Follow the discussion closely in case
there is a need for you to assist your partner
to overcome an objection. (Eccl. 4:
12) A word of caution, though: Resist the
urge to interrupt your partner when he
or she is using an effective line of reasoning.
Your unrestrained enthusiasm
might discourage your partner and confuse
the householder. At times, it may
be appropriate to join in the discussion.
But if you choose to say something, limit
yourself to a brief comment or two. Then
allow your partner to resume the lead.
Etiquette at the door when the other jw is talking…
!Keep attention on your partner-- not thinking up your own points and taking the conversation off in another direction
!Follow the discussion closely IN CASE there is a need for you to assist
!Resist the urge to interrupt your partner…effective line of reasoning
!Your unrestrained enthusiasm might discourage your partner and confuse the householder
!Limit yourself to a brief comment or two
I knew older jws that would only take carefully vetted other jws that would not interrupt
No Genesis to Revelation publishers
19. What do we do well to remember, and
why?
19 How can you and your partner assist
each other while walking from door
to door? Why not use the time to discuss
ways that your presentation might
be improved? Be careful that your comments
about those living in your territory
are not discouraging. Likewise, avoid
the trap of harping on the negative traits
of fellow evangelizers. (Prov. 18:24) We
do well to remember that we are earthen
vessels. Jehovah has shown us extraordinary
kindness by entrusting us with
the treasure of the ministry of the good
news. (Read 2 Corinthians 4:1, 7.) So let
all of us show appreciation for that treasure
by doing our best to fulfill our role
as evangelizers.
Discuss what presentation – most jws I went with had no idea what was in the publications, used a presentation so simple, One sentence, 30 years in the using, perfect needing no adjustments
What do you think this means?
“Be careful that your comments about those living in your territory are not discouraging….”
“avoid the trap of harping on the negative traits of fellow evangelizers”
Yes, don’t call them goats or birdfood….

While group witnessing in Pasadena, California, finding very little interest, I came to a house on the corner. A goatish woman at the door cared more for her religious fodder than for the bread of life, so I went to a small house in the rear, and in response to my knock a voice answered, “Come in!” On entering I saw a man sitting in a wheel chair, his arms no longer than twelve inches, with no hands; his knee joints are at his hips, and his legs very short, and, of course, he is unable to walk. He was born that way. He at once recognized the Kingdom message as the truth, took three bound books, and later subscribed for The Watchtower and Awake!
Don’t make the car a convenient time to discuss all the confidential stuff you’ve picked up, your guesses about the facts
CONCLUDING COMMENTS
Next week, ARE YOU “ZEALOUS FOR FINE WORKS”? What is the WTS definition of zealous? Where does their definition of works fit in?
