I doubt very much that George Carlin spoke like that all the time or when it really wasn't appropriate. A comedy routine shouldn't be confused with real life.

That's what I've been doing wrong all this time.

Or maybe I should just come up with better material?

And what about the issue of spam? I believe that posting sex in everything, even when the original topic might have something to do with materialism, the drudgery of door to door work, going out in field circus on Christmas, bashing higher education, and how much of a waste of time and money it is to serve joke-hova could be classified as a form of spam. Yes, the washtowel has unreasonable restrictions on sexuality, and these need to be exposed. But, that is not the only issue they repress.

There are plenty of threads that deal with this sexual repression. And, sometimes the latest washtowel study rag has an article that makes finding a mate excessively difficult or deals excessively with oral sex and/or masturbation. In those threads and in season, such is perfectly appropriate. However, there is no more need in making every topic a sex topic than there would be in posting comments about the REJECT Astaroth Party everywhere including places where the topic is totally different like pious-sneering, doing without material things "to make room for the more important things", or dissing higher education.

From what i heard, in the downunder region, poof is a euphemism for homosexual. Not sure if poof would be a politically correct term to use for fart, for fear of offending a minority in australia;)

    It all starts with RESPECT.

The Internet didn't invent disrespect, rudeness and such but it allowed a new generation (I mean, of course, "overlapping" generation) of young people to side-step kindness, decency and manners.

How? ANONYMITY! The camouflage of hiding and sniping from the bushes. We have an electronic world filled with bushwhackers!

Since anybody can sit comfortably in a remote area and stomp on other people's sensibilities summarily it has become the national pastime!

The basis for any society is fundamental: RESPECT.

I doubt anybody under the age of 40 would easily define "respect".

For me respect is 3 things in no particular order.

    1. Consideration for the value of another person, especially strangers, from the first second you encounter them. Everybody gets to start out equal to you in every way.

    2. Empathy for the emotional component in human nature, especially strangers, by holding back on criticism, insults and the attrbution of bad motives.

    3. Understanding that we make the world worse or better one person at a time in our attitude of sympathy, honor and integrity toward every last human being on the planet.

    It all starts with RESPECT.

Offending a friend is heartless; offending an enemy is low-minded; offending a stranger is stupid; offending a child is unconscionable.

On a public forum each sentence you type and post is an OPPORTUNITY to raise the standard or lower the standard of discourse.

About 8 or 9 years ago when I began posting on JWD I was an angry and sullen personality with little in the way of respect. Over time and with the sensible kindness of people who reached out I woke up to my bad manners and immaturity.

If I can hold back on the smartass part of me anybody can learn to do it:)

    It all starts with RESPECT.

The 'f' word. Since there are now 2 'f' words, it might be better to just say fart, cuz us dirty old guys might think that you are referring to the other 'f' word;)
