It does not seem as though he mentions the Org by name but looking at what he wrote it's kind of unmistakable as to whom he is referring.

Guess I failed at making a pretty subtle, but what I thought was important, point.
There's zero doubt that Sagan was referring to the JWs. But the fact that he didn't actually name them was important to my "scared of anything apostate" JW mentality.

And it's pretty obvious he was referring to JWs. At least, I don't know of any other religion that said the end was coming then.
