.....it seems like the human race is in the process of solving it's own problems......isn't it?
Seems to me the human race is pretty much the same as it ever has been... at the heart of each person at least.
Technology/science is better and helps more people... but that same technology/science is also more powerful, and is used to hurt more people too.
God is doing what exactly?
God is still here; helping; listening; speaking... all through His Son.
God seems rather want to show his boat race about this planet any more.
I don't know what this sentence means, lol.
What happened to good old fashioned miracles?
Then Jesus told him, "Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.
and
"A wicked and adulterous generation looks for a sign, but none will be given it except the sign of Jonah."
The wicked and adulterous generation were the pharisees and such... those who asked for a sign, so that they could discredit Christ. Which is why the only miracle that some will accept now is an 'amputee's limb growing back'. There is no faith in asking for that... it is demanded to discredit.
The miracles that He did perform were possible due to faith. Most people... including professed christians... don't even have the faith to know and believe that He is TRULY alive, and here, and speaking. That kind of faith and knowledge is freeing... and that kind of freedom can be a bit scary.
You ask what use is God? Well, at the very least, the idea of God brings hope to people, and hope is a powerful thing.
But God (rather than just the idea of God) - through His Son - does bring life, hope, and truth, strength, love, patience, joy, and help (as Christ DOES speak). Now if a person expects that this life is going to be peaches and cream because they believe in Christ and God, then that person is not listening. Because in this life, we are told that we WILL have trouble. Not because God is asleep at the wheel, but because as long as their exist people who don't care about others, who step ON others to gain things for themselves (man dominating and hurting his fellow man), who hurt others... either out of ignorance or simple selfishness, then we are going to have this world, made at the hands of the people in it.
That will change when Christ comes and separates the sheep from the goats, after he has already gathered those who belong to Him. But there are still those who will turn, and repent, and come to life (Christ). This is why the wheat and the weeds grow together, so that none of the wheat is 'burnt up' with the weeds. Because some of what might be weeds (or that we think might be weeds) are wheat, and have not had a chance yet to come to life. So until that time, we have both growing together.
So we are to wait, and remain in faith, until the appointed time. True, there are many who have gotten impatient and given up hope... just as Israel did when Moses went up the mountain, waiting for him to return, deciding that he was never coming back, and so built themselves a golden calf and sinned. (an example and foreshadowing in that, for us).
But Christ IS here, and has not left us as orphans, just as He promised.
Everything is playing out exactly as He said, and as God has seen it happen, including everything that is yet to come. In the meantime, we remain faithful, and also say "Come" to anyone who wishes to come to Christ and life, and LISTEN.
As for us, just as in Revelation, John recorded what he heard:
"This calls for patient endurance on the part of the saints who obey God's commandments and remain faithful to Jesus"
and
"Let him who does wrong continue to do wrong; let him who is vile continue to be vile; let him who does right continue to do right; and let him who is holy continue to be holy. Behold I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done!"
So while God set the appointed time according to His wisdom (even though man thinks he seems to know when that should be)... there are still those who will be among the great crowd (saints/those who belong to Christ; their robes wached clean in the blood of the lamb), who are NOT numbered. Because that door is still open, which is a mercy, and not negligence.
"The Spirit (Christ) and the Bride (all those who belong to Him - the 144 and the great crowd that is not numbered), say, "Come!" And let him who hears say, "Come!" Whoever is thirsty let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life."
Peace!
