I had visualized Rutherford as a man in great physical pain inasmuch as he complained that his stint in prison had ruined his health.
I had even made allowances that all his drinking was for the purpose of relieving his pain. He died of rectal cancer and I would imagine
that would be the worst of many ways to end your days. But, the movies of him cavorting around give me a totally opposite mental image
of his health now! I'm starting to see him as a willful, capricious, self-entitled autocratic potentate who pretty much did whatever he
damn well pleased. Who would have imagined that a fellow hand-picked by Jesus could fall so short of decency?
