Local Needs Talk: Brothers must repair dents and scratches on their vehicles...

Lied2NoMore... you're absolutely right... that would be "untactful" if you knew your car could create an unsightly stain in front of someone's home...
But calling out a brother in a "Local Needs" talk about dents that he can't afford to fix is really cowardly. It shouldn't even be a topic of discussion at all in my opinion. But if this elder really had a problem with it, he could have called the MS aside and offered to help instead of publicly humiliating him in front of the entire congregation...

we were once told that driving a pickup truck in field service was not appropriate. The only vehicle we owned that would hold all five of us was an older, not so pretty, one ton crew cab truck. My little car wouldn't hold three car seats in the back.

and for the record, we got n estimate for a paint job on the truck - $5000. There's no way I', spending that kind of money on a 10 year old truck just to make some dude happy. It ran fine, and it wasn't horribly rusty or dented up - just scratched and there were places where the paint had been completely buffed off, and you could still see shadows of the company logo on the doors. We still have it, it still runs fine, and we still haven't fixed one single bit of the body work.

What a self righteous turd! That's about right though isn't it. The speaker was using his ''god given authority(TM)'' to power trip....to foist his own stupid opinion onto a group of people.
Let's be honest, burkes like this would never be given power like he has in the real world and for good reason.
It probably WAS an attack against the MS with the Accord because the WBT$ is a typical old boys club. Men only...no god...just men. Stupid men that shouldn't be in charge of their own brain let alone a 'congregation(TM)'.
This was surely not a valid reason for a 'special needs(TM)' item.

Yeah that guy is a nutjob. Should you keep your home and car clean? Absolutely. Don't be a fucking pig. Complaining about dings and stuff is insane and that probably has some crazy OCD thing.

He needed to be reported to "Mother." You say it like this:
"Imagine some people feeling so bad after that talk that they use what they would have put in the donation box to fix their scratches. Or worse, imagine they don't volunteer their car anymore for 'service.'"
I had this 1989 Buick with low mileage that was a luxury car on the inside, totally awesome. But it had the worst paint cancer on the outside. I got it for a steal because it looked awful. Nobody ever complained to me about the way it looked.

When we, after 10 years stopped special pioneering and moved back into my brother's upper middle class neighbourhood, we were told not to park our older VW beetle in the kingdom hall parking lot.

Dang, you must have the most loving, theocratic, zealous congregation in the world, if your most pressing need is "scratches and dents"!
Imagine - no teens are double-lifing, no elders are secretly viewing porn, there's no gossip, all the publishers are pioneers, every family is the model of decorum and civility, etc. No child abusers, drunkards, liars, wife-beaters, nothing. Your biggest problem is "scratches and dents".
Praise Jah! You have the best congregation in the world!
