I had the car radio on as I drove to work. I happened across some 'xtian' radio station. So I listened as the music was a lot better than the Simon Cowell crap that comes on normally.

Anyway, the DJ asked some bloke what word he uses most in the day.

The obsequious little turd said 'Jesus!'. The DJ was impressed. I was depressed!

There isn't enough vomit in the world to describe how that made me feel.

Some people would say if something good happened that God was blessing them, but if something bad happened, Satan was testing them, but why would Jehovah bless you sometimes, then other times allow Satan to test you? I guess it comforted some people to think there was some purpose in all this, sort of like carrying a lucky rabbits foot, it gives people the illusion that they have some kind of protection or control over random events. And no matter what happens, their beliefs are confirmed, Jehovah blessed them, so he must exist, or Satan is testing them, so that also proves God exists. It's all just random, but try telling that to a believer.

    LisaRose -

GE 22:1-12, DT 8:2 God tempts (tests) Abraham and Moses.
JG 2:22 God himself says that he does test (tempt).
1CO 10:13 Paul says that God controls the extent of our temptations.
JA 1:13 God tests (tempts) no one.

What an inconsistant wazzock god really is!

Christians would say that the history of pagans is defined by the demonic practice of human sacrifice.

This coming from a religion that basis it's entire belief on a human sacrifice.

I think people reach for comfort in many ways. Religion is jus' one

And it would be unfair to say all donations come from christians only

There are many who are moved to assist the needy . Not because of any religious belief

The one thing believers and non-believers have in common

is the fact they expect somethin' in return for thier actions

Christians expect a reward from God

Non- christains expect a tax write off for the donations from the Govn't

    .

Talking in toungues really got me!! Here was this group of people babbling like a bunch of psycho wacko whatevers, not understanding a word they were saying and encouraging me to do the same for proof that I was full of the holy spirit. I was told that this was a special language that only god understood and that using this language would ensure that the devil didn't interfere with the answering of the prayer. I was told that the longer I spent doing this the better off I would be. Some of the babblers claimed to spend countless hours everyday doing this in a closet. In hindsight, this is more like what a crack addict does than someone influencing the powers that be.

Good points, all of you. Punkofnice -- that picture says it all very clearly. Once you get over the idea that the entire world is evil and deserves death, you come to know many many kind people, good people. To think they deserve destruction because they don't worship this particular god, out of many gods, is stupid.

Thinking about the movie Signs. The implication in that movie seems to be everything happens for a reason, because God made it so. So God gave his son asthma, killed his wife, made his daughter severely OCD so that they could defeat a single alien years later to help him restore his faith. Boy, you'd think a god who had all that planned out could have made aliens not come to earth and not have his wife die and him lose his faith in the first place. The implication in the movie, is the same that goes through the mind of many religious people today. God is helping them when things go their way... but that same god can't do something in a simple way to fix the problems of someone who really needs help.
