Do you think the Watchtower corporation can be "helped" to come clean?

It seems all humans and groups suffer from the universal problem of being able to see what is wrong with others, but not themselves.

    So how to "help"?

Maybe some paraphrasing of what the Watchtower has written about others, which equally applies to them?

    *** w09 6/1 p. 9 They Loved the Word of God ***

[Ray Franz' book "In Search of Christian Freedom"] was not welcomed by the [Watchtower Corporation]. The Mysteries of the [Watchtower] explains why the church was opposed: “The laity [class, or other sheep, or domestics] were thus enabled to compare the simplicity of primitive Christianity with contemporary [Watchtowerism]. . . How great the divergence between the teaching of the Founder of Christianity, and his self-styled vicegerent [the GB/FDS/Sanhedrin] really was, became first glaringly evident.”

[The Governing Body 1.0] issued... edicts condemning [Franz']. But the [writer] was undeterred. He replied: “[Legalism is a denial of Christian faith, and a denial of the gospel of grace]".

The prospect of the [book ISOCF] being circulated so worried the church that [the GB and their ruling religious clergy class] threatened to excommunicate anyone who read it.

[Ray Franz], heard an educated man say that it would be better to be without God’s law than without the [GB's]. [Franz] responded by stating that if God allowed him, before long he would make sure that even a plowboy would have more knowledge of the Bible than the [the GB and their ruling religious clergy class].

Any suggestions on how the WBTS could be "helped"?

The WTBTS is a dangerous cult. Their leadership feels that they are absolutely right. Until the GB asks forgiveness for their hypocrisy, their arrogance, their use of BITE control to victimize JWs, their fears to break their traditions, and their concern for protecting the image of a corporation more than their concern for protecting individuals from JWs, the GB will never change.

Peace be with you and everyone, who you love,

The WTB&TS will never come clean ,why not ? Because they are arrogant ,self righteous , belligerent , egotistical , knowitalls ,(even though they have not got anything right these past 130 + years ) and the big reason of course is ,they have between 7 million and 20 million "victims" who will donate vast amounts of money to perpetuate the myth that they and they alone are preaching the truth.

No. Like all such corporations that seek to control even if as in their minds for the right motives they have a total absence of any concept of corporate humility.

They can never admit when they are wrong.

They "run ahead" all the time predicting dates from 1874 1978 1881 1910 1914 1918 1925 1975 and so on for this or that to happen. and when it doesnt they go into spin mode as capable as any politician to explain it away.

They deny followers the right to think or progress in their own lives publicly by way of college and make public comments many as to what is to occur privately, most privately in their marriage.

They say for years they dont take up collections and every convention I have been to ask for donations. (now I am told at this site are installing credit machines at convention to take "donations" )

They have a despicable reputation in the policy and practice of handling child abuse when it is revealed.

Where are those that attempted to help them back on the path? Most have been disfellowshipped as apostates. I think I'll go with ABibleStudent and Smiddy on this one.

I can truthfully say that I have NOT seen a jackass or donkey turned into a great horse. WTBTS will not tolerate reformation. Keep dreaming.

When have the Society ever apologised for anything?

Apart from when they did that weak sort of apology for 1975 many years after the fact, I can't think of a single thing.

At this point, if there were are significant progressive internal reform, they'd arguably no longer be Jehovah's Witnesses.
