And his reasoning is that word only applies to an entity known as Jesus. Talk about BS.

Just of some passing interest , this was a lady judge

I spent 10 years as a deputy sheriff at the county jail.

It seemed like the great many of the prisoners had unusual names especially first names.

They say if you give a child a goofy first name he is likely to be a criminal. If you want your child to be good. to be a boy scout name him David or Michael.

Those are also messianic name but less controversial.

My evidence of 10 years on the job is that is true. No wonder they all call themselves Bro.

Oh yeah the jail is full of Jesus's and all his cousin's also named Jesus.

To be part of the team we were not to call them Jesus.

    We called them Hey huse.

The judge probably thought it was better to drain the swamp than to swat mosquittos.

It's crazee naming a kid that.

    Simon ... et al ....

    I don't quite get it.

The name Mohammed is the most common name for men in the world. And I can't tell you how many Latinos name their sons Jesus.

Would the judge have had an issue with one of those names ?

I don't see how "Messiah" is such a big deal.

They should have chosen a normal sounding name for the child.

For example, Moon Unit, Dweezil, Ahmet, and Diva Muffin would be some good choices.

You can always call your kid "North" (with last name: West) ... just like the Kardashian/West mixture

Funny about that one: she did not want to give him a name starting with a K because the kid might be bullied!

    Shit for brains!

Rub, I thought that too...I work at a job that deals with thousands of claimants every day, many named Jesus...so a child can be named Jesus but not Messiah. I wonder if a child has been named Jehovah?

White pages shows a Jehovah Smith in NC. There are also people with the last name Jehovah, Henry Jehovah, Barbara Jehovah.

am just saying he is doing the kid a favor! Even if parents rights are paramount in these matters they should have more sense then naming a kid that way.

I agree. I don't understand when parents give children odd names that are only cute for the first few years of their lives. They're the ones that have to go through life with that name. Why not just send them to school with a wedgie already, and save the other kids the trouble.
