Mine has been getting out of hand the last 13 months. I know a specific weekend when it started up again last June.

I took an extended vacation this summer hoping it would go away but events that transpired at my vacation residence caused me a lot of stress and I can't seem to stop the looping going on in my brain.

I will be ok but it is very frustrating to live with this debilitating illness.

Locking doors has been an issue for me, as well as making sure that the gas cap is on the vehicle.

Hoser, I am sorry you are going through this. Have you been to a therapist to help you with this. I know it can be very debilitating and I hope you are able to get it under control real soon.

Have you tried meditation? I don't have OCD, but I have ADD. I find a good meditation helps me focus and get more things dome. While someone with OCD would do something ten times, I would get distracted half way through and forget to finish, or get totally involved in a project and forget to eat or that I had a Doctors appointment. Meditation has helped with it a lot. I have a creative business, so it also helps me bring out my creativity. Many Witnesses are afraid to do it as they think it makes you vulnerable to demon attack, but I have been doing it a while now, and no demons yet!

I am sorry you are going through this type of stress. I think it helps to share things of this type so that you know all of your friends on JWN are thinking of you and sending you happy, healing and relaxing vibes your way.

A lot of it has to do with JW`s the stress of doing a fade and dealing with bully elders doesnt help

I can trace a lot back to certain situations. Checking and re checking to see if the door is locked I trace back to a time when I was falsely accused by an elder of leaving the kingdom hall door unlocked.

Checking to see if the gas cap is on happened a time when the gas station attendant didnt replace the cap at a full serve station. When I realized it was off I went back to the manager of that station and he accused me of trying to get a free gas cap off of him.

I wondered if that was what brought it on again. The stress of the JW's sure can bring out a lot of issues. Have you gone to someone who specializes in it where they can give you exercises to use to help control it?

My husband has a mild form of it. He locks doors obsessively too. I do my best to break him out of the pattern by making a practical joke of it. For instance, after he has checked his ritual number of times, I might ask if he is sure the door is locked? He's gotten to the point he can walk away from the door without checking again.

There is a buddhist technique that has proven successful for sufferers. It's called mindfulness.

I havent gone to anyone yet. I have had this condition for about 20 years but this last year has been a living hell. I am at the point where I am starting to rubbing my hands together so intensly that they are getting raw. This happens mostly at meetings and at the assemblies. My wife is getting pretty embarrassed about the whole situation.

This last couple of months there have been situations that I just couldn`t deal with and I told her to deal with it. Like locking the door to the house when we leave.
