It appears that the printers of these lies have a very selective memory and are able to compartmentalize the dissonants cognitions as seen in their cherry picking quotes which also gets pass down to their already indoctrinated reader. Wishful thinking bias needs to cherry pick what seems to be facts based on leaps in logic to support their claimed advanced knowledge of the unfolding of world events through correct biblical interpetation.

"A religion that teaches lies cannot be true." --The Watchtower, 1 December 1991, page 7

WT taught for over 50 years that Jesus returned in 1874. After everything Russell predicted would occur in 1914 failed, the WT then deceptively began teaching that 1914 was the beginning of all the events it previously had said would occur prior to and culminate in 1914. It is classic revisionist history.

The Scriptures show that the second presence [of the Lord] was due in 1874 . . . . This proof shows that the Lord has been present since 1874.--The Watch Tower, 1 March 1923, page 67

Surely there is not the slightest room for doubt in the mind of a truly consecrated child of God that the Lord Jesus is present and has been since 1874.--The Watch Tower, 1 January 1924, page 5

Another long-time faithful Witness, Jack H. Nathan, recalls his first meeting with the Bible Students:

After the war ended in 1918, there was no work available in England, so I rejoined the army and went off to India as part of the peacetime garrison. In May 1920 the malaria flared up again, and I was sent up into the hills to recuperate. There I read all the books I could get my hands on, including the Bible. Reading the Scriptures intensified my interest in the Lord's return. Months later, down in Kanpur, I started a Bible study group, hoping to learn more about the Lord's return. It was there that I met Fredrick James, a former British soldier who was now a zealous Bible Student. He explained to me that Jesus had been present since 1914, invisible to man. This was the most thrilling news I had ever heard."

When the Gentile Times ended, Jehovah was to give the power to rule to the One "who has the legal right," Jesus Christ. Therefore, 1914 would mark the time when Christ began to rule as King in God’s heavenly Kingdom, and since his rulership extends down to this day, it touches you.

Where can I get flip-flops for my vacation?

    -----

You can "donate" ( i.e. purchase) flip-flops* at any new Watchtower superstore or any WT literature rolling cart staffed by lazy Pioneers. Check shopping malls, airports, DMV stations and sidewalks for the nearest "Kingdom Cart" shopping experience.

    * notice: purchase your flip flops without delay, as styles and availability are subject to change without notice. Please see "new light" disclaimer packet available at JW.Org or at any WT sales kiosk.

Please also note that vacations are not endorsed by Watchtower, as these steal time from God and cut into your "service" requirements (slave duties) to the Watchtower, Inc.

Your local Elders have been informed of your upcoming vacation plans and you'll receive a "shepherding" call shortly to adjust your thinking on this matter.

-Thank you from your friends at WT Legal Dept.

The Watch Tower Society claims: "For a quarter of a century past, through preachers and through press, the ‘International Bible Students’ [Jehovah’s witnesses] . . . have been proclaiming to the world that the Day of Wrath prophesied in the Bible would dawn in 1914."

The "Bible Students" had been proclaimimg something quite different. In actuality, Russell had claimed that the "Day of Wrath" would END in 1914.

The final extinction of this counterfeit hierarchy, near the close of the

" Day of wrath" and judgment already begun-which will close, as shown by the "Times of the

Gentiles," with the year A. D. 1914. (The Time is at Hand, p.356)

If our vision be unobstructed by prejudice, when we get the telescope of God's Word rightly adjusted we may see

with clearness the character of many of the events due to take place in the

" Day of the Lord "--that we are in the

very midst of those events, and that

" the Great Day of His Wrath is come." (The Time is at Hand, p.101)
