More than you'd realise, Steve. I think a lot of JWs are just getting on with their lives these days.

Stay in their cheap "apartment" dorm rooms, drink cheap coffee, work 12 hr days, and then have to hurry up and get your a$$ home to keep the "worldly" business running before the bills stack up too high and things go sideways. Oh what a "privilege" and a "blessing"!!

    No thanks.

Wow! its great to see that you cannot be scammed any longer by the Watchtower. Most likely, there are more people like you who express similar feeling and attitude.

    Jehovah will reward volunteers...."soon".

Meaning never in your lifetime. Or, just plain never.

Stealth: Exactly how will Jehovah richly reward their efforts?

By giving them "Everlasting Life in Paradise Earth TM " .... which, not incidently is coming "soon"!

Tech49: WT is repeatedly calling my office, trying to get me and 1 of my main guys to come out.

Out of curiousity, what do you tell them?

“Those who volunteer to assist at Warwick may have to make sacrifices in order to help.” But it promises, “Jehovah will richly reward their efforts.”

These people have developed such a brazen lack of humility!

They no longer say, "May Jehovah bless you." Instead, they claim the ability to indebt Jehovah for their unearned gains.

How can they do this, when Jehovah has not said (in the 21st century) "Build my temple (in upstate NY)!" This project is the result of a[n admittedly] uninspired human decision: could be wrong, but hoping for the best! Yet, they dare to indenture "Jehovah" for surety of return on a sacrifice.

    Oh, the arrogance!

[It's a good thing that they don't need to fear the blowback of 'taking his name in vain'.]

Yes, it will take quite a few years to build... But the Crooklyn Brass already have a temporary meeting place picked out...

So they have it all worked out...

What's the point? It will just be sold off in 20 years time as a large hotel / country club ( the swimming pool will be a useful asset ) or maybe a corporate HQ for a US mid sized bank or maybe even to another religion like the New Zealand Bethel. I really wonder how much enthusiasm the society can continue to maintain for these projects. Many JWs don't mind a token 30 hour "pioneer" month once a year but giving up months of work for these kind of projects is a different thing entirely.

We've all seen it so many times before. Brothers and sisters bust their gut working on these building programs for years and constant calls to the congregations for money are made. Eventually the building is completed , some GB member then turns up in his suit , talks about how wonderful Jehovah has blessed the work and cuts the ribbon. Then 10 or 20 years down the line the decision is made to sell & relocate and the whole cycle continues.

I bet they can't get enough free labor for this one to be finished by 2017.

BTW Warwick 50 miles from Brookly seems to a popular place for retreat centers:
