"Daughter jumps in: 'I don't even remember the stuff we used to believe. It is just so confusing!'" I remember being taught how to respond to that in pioneer school. When a householder is talking about his or her own religion and says s/he is not sure what "we" believe, then you should point out s/he must not really believe it or otherwise s/he'd know what it was.
