Continues to be a good little earner for the WTBTS - donated 750K dollars in 2012 & the royalties seem to be rising year on year.
I just wonder how much knowledge of this income stream the average rank & file JW member is aware of when they are increasingly called on to pay for the WTBTS building projects.
Wow... also medical care etc etc... Are there companies in this report that produce weapons etc?

usual corporate america stuff - can't see any obvious military connections.
I remember seeing one of these awhile ago on the below site - One of the companies was Phillip Morris Co - which is a cigerrette and tobaco company. Link below.

JWs believe the WT operates solely on donated funds.
As many have said before, Jehovah's Witnesses and associated costs are a loss leader for the property and investment businesses of the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society.
I know it is "the land of the free" and all that , but it still amazes me that US churches aren't required to publish financial accounts. Some voluntarily do , of course , but the WTBTS chooses not to.
The average JW rank & file member isn't putting much in the box these days & although they can make money by building , holding for a few years then selling , there is only so much "flipping" of property that you can do before people get wise to it.
I often wonder whether the WTBTS wish they had insisted that tithing was still a condition of Christianity. I am sure they could have tweaked the scriptures sufficiently - goodness knows , they have done that in other areas to support their doctrines. They must look on at churches like the Mormons with great jealousy.

It looks to me as though they unloaded (sold) the really embarrasing shares, like in Philip Morris tobacco, and the Rand Corporation ( or a connection therof that was developing an engine for military use), and so I guess they feel they will not be criticised by the R&F for gaining "donations" from the huge portfolio that Ms Riley left them all those years ago.
After all, they get many bequests.
But as said above, struggling families and individuals, being asked to donate more, take more of a hit in the pocket to travel to conventions, and to "do more do more", may well feel agrieved, and deceived, to realise that the WT has benefited by between just under a million $ and over three million dollars every year for well over a decade from this Trust.
This money could be used to make up the "shortfall" that every Convention seems to have, and go toward the new buildings. But no, they simply make this money disappear, and ask for fresh donations.
Still, if that doesn't bother the JW's, it is even easier to donate, even by Credit Card these days.
