    Number baptized in 2012: 268,777

    Number in 2011 : 263,131

    There is a chart on that page which shows it closer to 300k in 2010.

    Of course the population of the world increases about 82 million per year, or 224,000 PER DAY. JWs better get busy with their preaching.

    I just took a look at a couple of sets of numbers I have available. The 2013 yearbook shows 269,777 baptized and 7,782,346 publishers, meaning baptisms equaled 3% of publishers.

    The 1975 yearbook is one of the few publications I kept, which shows 2,021,432 publishers and 297,872 baptisms. Baptisms equaled 14% of publishers.

    The really fun number is hours. In 1974 it took 1245 publisher hours to make a convert, last year it took 6506! So they are still sucking in a few people, although I think they are baptizing a lot more of their own kids at younger ages than they did back in the day. However, they are vastly less efficient at doing so.

    It peaked at over 350,000 a year in 1997 and has declined to around 250,000 a year now.

    The decline in Australia is even more dramatic.

    Thanks jwfacts. It seems Jw numbers are not keeping commensurate with world population increase. This is encouraging.

    One obvious conclusion is since the number on humans increase with about 82.000 million people per year and the number of publishers only with approx. 260.000 tousands per year, god must be very busy in killing non JW´s at Armaddon even more for every day that passes til Armageddon really comes. I wunder how many Angels he must use to finish the job, when it comes?

    I sent a comment to the Sun-Herald paper who ran a small item on the convention also ,and another one to the B.A. virtually saying how ineffective their witnessing must be if they could only get 7 baptisms after a year of preaching in victoria when 3000 JW`s are required to meet a goal of 10 hours a month in door to door witnessing.I said jehovah should sack the lot of them.

    I would hazard a guess that many of these baptisms we are seeing nowadays is simply the offspring of witnesses themselves , children who are brought up in the religion as opposed to completely new converts.If that were truly the case then door to door witnessing is manifestly inadequate, a pure waste of time that only serves to keep the publishers occupied and their minds off the real issues.

    @smiddy

    You should have told the Newspaper to include a graph about the decline in baptisms.
