Lunacy or apostasy?

Over the years I have heard some really strange beliefs shared openly with others in the congregation. One sister, for example, stated that you could not be cremated because then "all your molecules will be spread around and Jehovah couldn't put you back together." Kinda sounds like she got stuck in a nursery rhyme there, a la Humpty Dumpty.

Anyways, sometimes there are people in the congregation that spread around their wild ideas, ideas that are totally contrary to the "truth" as published by the Watchtower. Yet, nothing, absolutely NOTHING happens to them!

Case in point, the belief that after death the marriage bond is terminated. The deceased will return, resurrected to earthly life, without the desire to marry (per the Society "as the angels"). The living mate, if they survive Armageddon, will NOT be able to remarry that person. THAT is the "current" light. Now, why is it then that an older sister can totally disregard that light and promote her own belief that she will, IN FACT, be with her husband AFTER the resurrection and nobody says a single thing...IN FACT, the Society has told the elders that in this particular instance the elder body should simply humour the person because...if I remember correctly, "emotions" are in play.

Well, then, if "emotions" can be blamed for a blatant and rebellious disregard of current "light" in that instance, the why can't you blame "emotions" for rejecting the generation change, the 1914 chronology, the 1975 debacle, the unknown FDS, the transplant of organs, or even....wait for it....smoking! Heck, every other major sin can be blamed on emotions!!!

    What say you?

Why did the Society have to tell the elder body to let the old lady be? Did the elder body enquire as to what they should do with her? That would be the real lunacy here.

Maybe they will stay "hands off" because there is literally no scriptural basis for this belief. The biblical support for the new earth, resurrection et al that this is purely eisegesis. Funny how a JW brain can sift through the dogmas to believe how they like!

    I like your thinking.

Obviously you think you are dealing with reasonable people and that their decisions have to make "sense". (If that's your thinking, could you be delusional or maybe it's just "lunacy"?)

And you guys complain that your meetings are boring?? Sister Stumble most likely was trying to scare the younger members into making an early resolve not to be cremated. (Is there anything against cremation in the Society?) Me, I would have stood up and said of course Jehovah could put you back together...he's God! You might stutter for the rest of eternity, but he could put you back together! Hmmm...that reminds me, I have to ask my evangelical friends if I decide to get cremated, whether I can still burn in Hell?

That's because no one's threatened. If they dis the Governing Body, though, the smiles might get a little tight.

Yeah, well that light may be getting a little dim. Adam and Eve were married by the Lord, thus their marriage was intended to be forever, right? And since Jesus did nothing except return humanity back to a garden environment, and since he intends for them to live as Adam and Eve lived, then how will people replenish the earth? No children like in the pictures? Jesus said that there would be no marriage or giving in marriage in the resurrection. If someone is married BEFORE the resurrection, that's a different tune. Once a person passes through the resurrection that person cannot be married. But Jesus didn't say that people couldn't be married prior to the resurrection.

This is, strangely, one idea that my mom WANTS the WT to be wrong on... she just doesn't accept that "light"... she says that "one elder said that THAT part of the NT only applies to the anointed"... and I said to her, "well, how do you know WHICH parts apply to you and WHICH don't?"

obviously the interisting part of meeting night/morning/afternoon is not the program, but

    the chatter

    for that matter.

That's the thing about the JW lunacy, ""one elder said that THAT part of the NT only applies to the anointed"", They claim the bible is written only for the anointed, but anything about listen, obey, obey, don't complain, is "scripturally" bashed over the great crowds head. Didn't the "angels" fall from heaven because of the earthly womens good looks?

The WTBTS has been known to offer their opinion supposedly bible based but rather it is on their pre-conceived ideas, and then present their lunacy in a dogmatic authoritative way of delivery, as if they know more than everyone else about details that are just unknown. Wife and I were talking yesterday about how they have to make their opinion known about things in life that are just NOT any of their freddking business and their is so little said in the bible about it anyway.

When we were being studied with, the elders wife told us during the study that before harmeggedon starts, that all of us would be called to the kingdom hall and Jehovah would pick that hall up like a spaceship and transport all of us to a mountain top. That's why it's so important we be at all our meetings.

This summer her elder husband told hubby if we don't fill out our time reports Jehovah and Jesus wouldn't know our hours. It's so important we fill them out. That was the last straw.
