The Detroit Red Wings DID beat the Hurricanes, 4 games to 1.
Goaltender Dominek "the dominator" Hasek finally has his Stanley Cup championship. Coach Scotty Bowman announced his well-earned retirement.
Way to go, Red Wings. The team was loaded with hungry veterans who would not be denied. The WIngs have won 3 of the last 6 Stanley Cups, and 10 as a franchise.
Congratulations on a good year to the Hartford Whalers, er, the Carolina Hurricanes! They put up a wonderful fight.
