A group of seniors from a Baptist Church were on their way back from Gatlinburg Va. where they had preached to the locals. Their bus blew a tire and veered into traffic catching fire in the accident. 8 people died and 14 others were injured.

How do people of faith come to terms with those considered faithful meeting such a tragic end and causing the deaths and injury of others.

Tragedies like this have no logical explanations and are all dismissed as God's will and that God has allowed some of his servants to die, it is a hard pill to swallow.

Easy, they were not "true christians" and therefore did not have angelic protection.

A similar thing happened some years ago in Spain. A bus carrying JW's was involved in an accident and many were killed. A van travelling in the opposite direction had just filled up with fuel when the tank fell from under the van, skidded across the road and wedged under the bus before exploding.

At the time I could not understand how Jehovah could allow this to happen to his 'servants'. Now I realise God has nothing to do with anything like this. One of the few scriptures I beleive is true, "Time and unforeseen occurrence".

    Very sad whoever it is.

People of faith do not fear death. They may not be in a hurry to 'go' nor do they relish the way in which they go but in general people of faith do not fear death itself. There are worse things than death in their eyes. I don't fear death itself, I know where I'm going. My jw cannot wrap his head around this at all, most jw's cannot and many ex jw's cannot either. Ideally we would all go in our sleep and not be consciously aware of our death (suffering, torture, illness, beheading, etc..)

I believe Satan!!who is waging war against all who believe in Christ. Will cause as much evil
as he promised. To get folks to stop believing in a HIGHER than he power. He is having many followers
which makes him work even harder.BUT I believe his time is short,Christ will return...

They were on the way home to Statesville, North Carolina

They had been to an annual Fall Jubilee in Gatlinburg, Tennessee (not Virginia) which is an event which features gospel singers and speakers.

The bus crossed the median of I-40 near Jefferson City, TN. hit a SUV occupied by a family from Knoxville and then struck a tractor-trailer in the side of the trailer.

The truck's cab caught fire and the bus had suffered some heat damage. The bus was transported this morning to the Tennessee weigh station on I-81 to be weighed (one of my friends saw it on I-81 headed south towards Knoxville and told me about it when he saw it. I had called him last night at 9:15 P.M. and told him that he may be delayed in traffic because of the wreck. He had been sleeping all afternoon and din't know about it. He has a daily run from Sparta to Greeneville, TN. and we talk every morning as he drives to and from Greeneville).

The truck driver died at the scene. No information on gender or identity.

A passenger in the SUV also died at the scene. No information on gender or identity.

6 people on the bus died at the scene. All were senior citizens and church members.

8 people died at the scene and most of the injured from the bus were transported to UT Hospital in Knoxville.

At least 7 are in serious condition, 2 are in critical condition and 2 are stable. 2 injured people were treated and released at the scene and were not transported to UT.
